Colorectal cancer is rising among adults under 50 and is now the leading cause of cancer death for this age group.

At Fox Chase Cancer Center, physicians like Jason Castellanos, MD, and Christopher Cann, MD, say many younger patients are diagnosed after symptoms are mistaken for more common conditions.

Changes in bowel habits, abdominal pain, fatigue, or blood in the stool should never be ignored. Screening beginning at age 45, knowing your family history, and adopting healthy lifestyle habits can help reduce risk.

Austin Williams, MD, MSEd, FACS, is a breast cancer surgeon at Fox Chase Cancer Center, but his journey began in a North Philadelphia classroom.

As a former teacher, he saw firsthand how access shapes opportunity. Today, that perspective drives his work to ensure all patients have access to innovative treatments and clinical trials.

From mentoring future physicians to leading groundbreaking research, Dr. Williams is helping shape a more equitable future in cancer care.

After three cancer diagnoses and thousands of miles traveled, Heather Morgan knows what truly sets care apart.

Now based in Tennessee, she returns to Fox Chase Cancer Center for treatment, supported by Angel Flight East and a care team that has been with her from the beginning.

Her story is a reminder that when care is compassionate, coordinated, and patient-centered, distance becomes secondary.

Can your relationship status influence your health? New research suggests it might.

A large study found adults who have never been married had higher cancer rates than those who were or had been married, a difference experts say may be linked to lifestyle habits, screenings, and social support.

Meet John “Jack” Ruckdeschel, MD, FACP, FCCP, a Professor in Thoracic Medical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

Dr. Ruckdeschel focuses primarily on the treatment of thoracic cancers, including lung cancer, and has spent much of his career dedicated to caring for patients with complex solid tumors.

After stepping away from practice, he returned to medicine because he missed what matters most: caring for patients. He believes cancer care is deeply personal, built on trust, attention, and connection. For him, the most meaningful part of the work is helping patients find hope, understanding, and support through some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
