Flu activity is increasing nationally and locally:
• CDC surveillance shows influenza activity in the U.S. is elevated and increasing across multiple indicators. Influenza A (particularly H3N2) is the most frequently reported virus. 

2. The H3N2 subclade K variant is circulating widely:
• Genetic characterization of influenza A(H3N2) viruses nationally shows that a large majority of subtyped H3N2 viruses belong to the subclade K variant this season. 

3. Flu activity in Pennsylvania and Philadelphia is trending upward:
• Pennsylvania health data show influenza activity in the state is increasing rapidly with rising diagnostic detections and emergency department visits, and local reports note outbreaks in long-term care facilities.
