✨ Penn Medicine proudly celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Clinical Excellence Awards and the induction of the 9th Cohort of the Distinguished Nurse Clinician Academy (DNCA) during the annual Nursing Recognition Award Celebration on October 23, 2025! 🎉

The Clinical Excellence Awards honor healthcare professionals whose contributions go above and beyond the standard requirements of their roles — recognizing exceptional clinical skill, innovation, research, teaching, and leadership that advance patient care and nursing excellence. 🌟

The DNCA was created at Penn Medicine to recognize and empower expert bedside nurses — those who demonstrate mastery, mentorship, and leadership in clinical practice. ✨ Developed to strengthen professional growth and elevate the voice of frontline nurses, the DNCA connects recognition with development and collaboration across the health system.

Since its launch, members have reported greater connection, leadership confidence, and influence in shaping patient care and nursing excellence across Penn Medicine. 💙

It’s never too early to plan for Thanksgiving — especially when pie can make a difference! 🧡

HUP is proud to once again support ’ Pie in the Sky fundraiser, a beloved tradition for many of our employees. MANNA is a nonprofit leader in evidence-based “food is medicine” care, delivering nutritious meals and providing nutrition counseling to individuals battling serious illnesses — many of whom are Penn Medicine patients and families.

When you purchase a pie ($35–$40), you’re not just bringing dessert to your holiday table — you’re providing a full Thanksgiving meal for a MANNA family of four.

You can also choose to donate a pie, which will be going directly to the HUP Harvest and HUP Harvest Cedar Food Pantries to support our community.

🏆 Congratulations to Chloe Forker, MSN, RN, CEN, FCCS — recipient of the 2025 PONL DAISY Nurse Leader of the Year Award! 💚✨

This award honors exceptional nurse leaders who inspire excellence, compassion, and innovation — and Chloe truly embodies that spirit.

As a Clinical Practice Lead (CPL) on HUP’s Advanced Medicine Team, Chloe is a clinical expert, mentor, and go-to resource for her colleagues. Since stepping into the role, she’s enhanced onboarding for a multigenerational workforce, fostered nurse engagement, and strengthened leadership development across her team. 🌱

Before becoming a CPL, Chloe made her mark as an Emergency Department nurse, leading the ED Triage and Resuscitation/Critical Care Committees and advancing care during the height of the pandemic. Her passion for improving outcomes for patients with opioid use disorder inspired her to champion harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and stigma-free education.

Chloe has been instrumental in developing Xylazine wound care order sets, advocating for limb-sparing treatments, and designing harm reduction discharge kits with Narcan, education materials, and local resources — ensuring patients leave with safety and dignity. 💊❤️

Her compassion shines through every day. From coordinating complex discharges to uplifting her peers, Chloe creates a culture of teamwork, empathy, and healing. One patient shared:

“The staff really lifted my spirits and helped me recover the humanity and dignity I lost during a time of struggle. While I was here, I never felt alone.” 💬

Chloe’s leadership, kindness, and dedication make her a true example of nursing excellence. 💚

Join us in celebrating Chloe Forker for this well-deserved honor! 🎉

🥇 Please join us in congratulating Jessica Lazzeri DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, FAAN, Clinical Director – Women’s Health and Neonatal Nursing, on her recent induction as a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing (AAN). 💙💫

As one of nursing’s most respected honorific societies and policy-shaping organizations, the AAN recognizes visionary nursing leaders whose work has had significant impact on health, policy, and practice worldwide.

Dr. Lazzeri’s induction into the Academy recognizes her exceptional contributions to infant safety through the PA Safe Sleep initiative—an award-winning, evidence-based hospital program dedicated to reducing sleep-related infant deaths

—and her innovative “Hats Off” study, which challenged routine hat use for full-term newborns, advancing safe sleep practices and reducing unnecessary interventions. Dr. Lazzeri began her career as a clinical nurse and has held several positions at HUP over the course of her career.

If you see her, please stop and congratulate Dr. Lazzeri on this incredible achievement! 🎉
