✨ Investing in better care through better communication ✨

This MLK Weekend, the HUP team came together for Clinical Conflict Management training with Penn Medical Ethics & Health Policy. Our Patient Experience, Nursing, and Ethics teams participated in intensive mediation and conflict resolution training—because difficult conversations are opportunities to listen, understand, and collaborate. Better communication = better care for our patients and families.

👏 Thank you to our participants:

Penn Medicine Academy proudly kicked off the Fall 2025 Cohort of the Penn Medicine Futures Program, a prestigious professional development experience designed to elevate emerging leaders across the organization.

Following individual contributor nominations, a rigorous selection process, and final review by the CHRO, Ambassador Hospital Concierge team members from Patient and Guest Relations — Salif Kane and Judith McPhaul — were selected to participate. (Corey Edwards, also a graduate, is not pictured.)

Throughout the program, participants showcased their strengths, engaged in dynamic learning sessions and breakout discussions, expanded their professional networks, and completed meaningful assignments that reinforced growth and leadership development.

👏 After demonstrating outstanding commitment and dedication, these team members successfully graduated from the Penn Medicine Futures Program – Cohort 2.

🎄✨ Spreading a little extra holiday magic at HUP ✨🎄

This season, our incredible HUP nurses, alongside our Ambassador/PGR team, helped brighten patients’ days by delivering thoughtfully prepared gift bags—courtesy of the Penn Medicine Wellness team—to those admitted during the holidays.

From smiles to meaningful moments of connection, these small gestures go a long way in reminding our patients that they are seen, cared for, and never alone—especially during this special time of year. 💝

Thank you to everyone who helped make the hospital feel a little warmer and more joyful this season. 💙

We hosted Wellness Check Day at the HUP Cedar campus—bringing essential care directly to our patients and community. Through the Penn Medicine Mobile Mammogram and Community Health vans, 17 mammograms were completed, 19 individuals received vaccines and blood pressure checks, and hundreds connected with vital resources.

With support from Nursing, the Health Related Social Needs Council, Cedar Behavioral Health, CHOP Behavioral Health, and PHMC—and over 200 pounds of fresh produce distributed by HUP Harvest—this day truly reflected our commitment to care beyond the bedside. 🌱🩺

✨ What an incredible day at the 2025 Nursing Best Practice Forum! ✨

Held in Smilow Auditorium, 26 clinical nurses took the stage to showcase the outstanding work driven by the shared governance councils across the hospital. The 10 Center Nursing team came together to serve at Chosen 300 through the Penn Medicine CARES program.

Chosen 300’s mission is to unite people across race, ethnicity, faith, and background to uplift our community — and it was an honor to support their meal program for neighbors across Philadelphia.
