HIV Cure Research Day, observed annually on December 14, raises awareness about the efforts to find a cure for HIV. The day celebrates advances in research, supports scientists, advocates and people living with HIV, and stresses the importance of ongoing research, funding and equal access to care.

December 10 is International Human Rights Day. It is celebrated yearly to recognize the United Nations General Assembly's adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. The day reminds us of how important human rights are and that we must keep working to protect them.
This year’s theme, “Our Everyday Essentials,” highlights the essential role that human rights play in our daily lives, even in small ways we may not notice. Human rights are basic elements that we need and depend on every day.

Awareness of the risks associated with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, particularly during the holiday season, is important. This prevention month urges individuals to make responsible decisions, like arranging alternative transportation, designating a sober driver, or utilizing rideshare services, to reduce traffic collisions and fatalities.

National Handwashing Awareness Week takes place from December 1 to 7. Practicing good hand hygiene helps prevent the spread of illnesses. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends washing your hands often, with extra attention before and after certain activities:
• Before, during and after preparing food
• Before and after eating food
• Before and after caring for someone at home who is sick with vomiting or
diarrhea
• Before and after treating a cut or wound
• After using the toilet
• After changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has used the toilet
• After blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing
• After touching an animal, animal feed or animal waste
• After handling pet food or pet treats
• After touching garbage
The United Nations’ International Day of Persons with Disabilities is observed annually on December 3. This occasion seeks to promote awareness regarding the economic, social and political experiences of individuals with disabilities by encouraging greater public understanding.
This year’s theme, “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress,” highlights the need to create welcoming spaces where everyone can grow and succeed, making sure people with disabilities are part of every area of life.

The week, established by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), reminds us that even late in the season, it is not too late for individuals aged six months and older to get their flu vaccine to protect themselves and others from serious illness. This year’s global theme “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response,” underscores the impact of recent funding reductions and other disruptions. It also highlights the resilience of countries and communities as they step up to protect the gains made and drive the HIV response forward.

Partnership Comprehensive Care Practice provides outreach in the community. Our outreach team partners with an array of community organizations in the Philadelphia area to offer rapid HIV testing and education.
Our team of certified HIV testers and counselors are available to offer free rapid HIV testing at local community organizations, health fairs and special events. Our team uses the fastest point of care test available and is trained to provide pre- and post-test counseling and linkage to care. Our team is available during regular business hours, as well as evenings and weekends.
Additionally, our team leads interactive educational presentations at local agencies, community groups, churches, etc. All presentations are free and cover a variety of topics related to sexual health. Our presentations introduce the basics of HIV, Hepatitis C and PrEP. Our goal is to end stigma through the availability of reliable information and increase access to testing and treatment.
Having a special event or health fair? Our team provides outreach at community events and health fairs. We would love to set up a table at your next event to educate community members about our services and provide prevention tools.
