Did you know that space heaters account for 2 in 5 U.S. home fires?
Be sure to ALWAYS read the instruction manual, which will have safety information specific to your model of space heater.
Here are some safety tips to keep in mind when heating your home:
• Place heater on a flat surface, and avoid putting it on a carpet
• Keep flammable objects at least 3 feet away from the heater
• Plug heater directly into a wall outlet, not an extension cord
• Never use a space heater with a damaged cord
• Turn off space heaters when sleeping or leaving a room

Although not everyone with a visual disability is able to read Braille, The Braille alphabet, which uses six raised dots to represent each letter and number, is an essential form of communication for many blind and low vision individuals, which is why it's important to produce essential information in accessible formats, including in Braille and audible formats.

Philadelphia Department of Public Health has expanded their Homebound Vaccination Program! They now offer free COVID vaccine and boosters in the home to anyone 12+ who has difficulty getting to a vaccine clinic, because of a disability, health issue, transportation, language access or other barriers.
Vaccine is FREE! No insurance required.
Caregivers and family members in the home are also eligible!
