Relationship OCD (ROCD)

This subtype of OCD is focused on intense, intrusive doubts about your relationship (any really, not just romantic). It causes constant stressing about this relationship… doing mental checks, comparing them to others when you know logically doesn’t make sense, and seek reassurance alotttttt.

While this causes so much stress, it doesn’t have to continue to be like this. At Better Minds we utilize a CBT method called Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). This method helps you to slowly face those fears and concerns with confidence.

OCD just sticks to ya!

OCD makes you feel like you are drowning, being tossed around by fear and doubt, yet OCD tries to help… in reality it’s just deflating your life boat and is not actually trying to help you.

Treating OCD with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is the good standard. Meaning it is highly effective in no longer having OCD toss you around.

Highlighting our very own Better Minds therapist, Erik Osterlund, who specializes in treating OCD.
His approach with his clients is grounded, collaborative, and understanding. He builds a plan with you, encourages you yet knows how to change the pace (especially when OCD becomes more challenging).

Want to stop having OCD control your life? Schedule a free intro meeting today. Erik accepts clients in PA.

“Understanding OCD, strengthening families and relationships”

Support for loved ones of people with OCD is essential however some well intended help can unintentionally reinforce OCD and you may find supporting a loved one of OCD can be frustrating at times because all you want to do is help this group supports those supporting someone with OCD by building understanding, reducing isolation and learning practical evidence based tools ( including ERP informed strategies ) to respond supportively without feeding the OCD cycle.

Find your community of support as we know you care deeply for your loved one navigating OCD.

It’s a trap ⚠️

Ya should’ing all over yourself! Maybe you realize it, maybe you don’t. Really what a “should” does is sets unrealistic expectations.
• I should get up and move (yet you need rest)
• I shouldn’t be eating this (and maybe you need it)
• I should call my mom back (but I want time for myself right now)

A “should” makes you feel guilty and so disappointed in yourself. It really doesn’t help you do the thing, it just digs a digger hole for yourself.

If you struggle with guilt, my practice is here to help! Better Minds therapists offer free consult meetings before starting therapy. If you’re in PA, reach out via link in bio today ♥️

Hear me out…

It’s been a few weeks since January 1st. You felt motivated. You felt determined to tackle all the New Year’s resolutions you set out to accomplish… and now you are digging deep and the motivation and determination has vanished.

Your resolutions and goals were not set up to work for you. You have set high expectations, built yourself to do a goal, prioritize productivity over well-being, only think of the outcome vs. the process, and fall into an all-or-nothing trap.

I love goals and checking those off as I reach them… and the Better Minds team is here to help you set up goals that actually work for you. Not against you.

Reach out today for your free consult with a Better Minds therapist today! We are accepting new clients in PA and DE.

What it means for Better Minds to be private pay…

Aka self-pay, aka out-of-network provider

When starting Better Minds, we understood the barriers insurance causes and how the system is broken. We always strive for autonomy for our clients and private pay allows for that. No insurance dictating services or payment. You know exactly what to pay for therapy each time with a private pay therapist as you don’t have to worry about deductibles and copays.

Better Minds provider superbills (aka therapy receipts) if one wants to receive reimbursement from their insurance company cause we get it, you have to have insurance and you might as well get the best of both worlds! 1) you get to pick who you want to work with, 2) you know what you’re paying, 3) your insurance pays you.

Reach out today to learn more and connect with the therapist you want to work with! Better Minds is accepting new clients in PA and DE, contact us via link in bio.
