Swift Steps: The Recovery Community for Swifties

Swift Steps: The Recovery Community for Swifties https://swiftsteps.org/membership With a history deeply rooted in addiction, I am a testament to the resilient spirit of recovery.
(1)

Growing up amidst alcoholism, drug addiction, mental health challenges and domestic abuse, I bore the scars of those traumas. And even as I tried to distance myself from the legacy of my upbringing, addiction found me in numerous forms: from food to shopping, from relationships to substances. My journey to recovery wasn’t linear. I struggled with relapses, leaned on maintenance medications, attended 12-step meetings, intensive outpatient programs and used various harm reduction tools. I was convinced that formal treatment wasn’t for me but what I truly needed was genuine human connection. It was only when I surrounded myself with compassionate individuals who truly understood my struggles that I was able to shed the weight of shame and grow beyond my challenges. Today, as a recovery mentor and advocate, I bring this profound intimate understanding to help others navigate their own paths. Let me be your guiding hand, sharing both my missteps and successes, to light your journey towards a fulfilling life in recovery.

🎤 Speaker Spotlight: is a health advocate and storyteller with 20+ years of public speaking experience. He has been clean and sober since 2007. He draws from his lived experience, including his HIV diagnosis in 2000 and his journey as a cancer survivor, to lead stigma-breaking, hope-forward conversations about healing, resilience, and self-advocacy.

Swift Steps: Recovery Through Music 🩵

I built this because I needed a way to heal that actually worked for my brain, not shame, not pressure, not “be perfect or don’t come.”

We use music (YES, Taylor and more) to process real life: anxiety, heartbreak, burnout, attachment wounds, cravings, spirals, grief, self-worth… all of it.

It’s mental health support and addiction/recovery support: without the rigid rules.

✅ harm reduction + all pathways welcome

Eleven years ago, this was my 30th birthday. Concert.
Makeup.
Smiling.

No one knew anything was wrong.
And I didn’t “look like I was dying” either.
I looked fine. I looked fun.
I looked normal.

But compared to me today, you can see it.
I’m healthier now.
I’m steadier.
I’m alive in my own eyes again.

If you’re the person who looks okay on the outside but knows you’re not, you don’t have to carry it alone.

Start with Debut Dreamer (our free plan) inside the Swift Steps app.

Come to a meeting with your camera off, stay muted, just listen.

When you want deeper, more consistent support, Out of the Woods (OOTW) gives you replays + daily themed meetings + the full community experience.

If you’ve been thinking about them… let this be your sign. Call home. Text your sibling. Check in with your people. No perfect words required.

Just a “Hey, I was thinking about you” is enough.

If you needed a script, here it is:
“Hey. I’m okay. I’m safe. I’m alive.” 📞💛

And if calling home feels complicated, call your safest person. A friend. A sponsor. Someone who gets it.

Need a place to check in too?

Join Swift Steps as a Debut Dreamer (free plan): steps-swift.mn.co

If calling home is complicated for you, you’re not alone.

Choose the safest version of “home” you have: a friend, a sponsor, a cousin, a mentor, someone who loves you.

Swift Steps fam: I NEED your honest input. 🩵

We have 1,500+ people in the Facebook group, 150+ in the app, and a whole lot of followers and supporters… but meeting attendance isn’t matching that. Instead of guessing why, I made a short anonymous pulse check so you can tell me what’s really working and what’s not.

This is for anyone who:
• wants support but hasn’t come to a meeting yet
• feels nervous/awkward/unsure what to expect
• can’t make the times work
• is overwhelmed, tired, or just not ready to be seen

If you needed permission to accept the help… here it is. 💗

This season doesn’t have to be a performance.
You don’t have to “hold it together.”
You don’t have to carry it alone.

The people who love you want you safe, supported, and as steady as possible. And if help looks like a meeting, a ride, a boundary, meds, therapy, harm reduction, community, or simply telling the truth… it counts.

And if what you need is more than Swift Steps can offer (detox, inpatient, outpatient, safety planning, local resources) message us. We’ll help you find options in your area. You deserve real support, not just “you got this.”

If you’re in the U.S. and you need immediate support right now:
📞 Call/text 988 (Su***de & Crisis Lifeline)
📲 Or text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line)

Save this. Send it to someone you love.
And if you’re the one who needs it: you don’t have to earn care. 🎁

Addicts are hilarious in the darkest way sometimes. We are walking mixed messages.

We will swear we “can’t do anything right” and then turn around and hyperfocus like our life depends on it. We will say we’re hopeless and then build entire skill sets out of pure survival.

has never read a full book, but he taught himself day trading.
That’s the thing about us.
When we lock in, we LOCK IN.
We can research for 12 hours straight.
We can learn an entire system overnight.
We can become experts in the thing that’s saving us or the thing that’s destroying us.
And he said it perfectly. We either go so good or so bad.

Recovery for me isn’t about becoming less intense. It’s about giving the intensity direction. Structure. People. Accountability. A place to tell the truth. If you want a space like that, Swift Steps is here. Peer led. Harm reduction friendly.
