Swift Steps: the Recovery & Healing Community for Swifties

Swift Steps: the Recovery & Healing Community for Swifties https://swiftsteps.org/join-the-community With a history deeply rooted in addiction, I am a testament to the resilient spirit of recovery.
(1)

Growing up amidst alcoholism, drug addiction, mental health challenges and domestic abuse, I bore the scars of those traumas. And even as I tried to distance myself from the legacy of my upbringing, addiction found me in numerous forms: from food to shopping, from relationships to substances. My journey to recovery wasn’t linear. I struggled with relapses, leaned on maintenance medications, attended 12-step meetings, intensive outpatient programs and used various harm reduction tools. I was convinced that formal treatment wasn’t for me but what I truly needed was genuine human connection. It was only when I surrounded myself with compassionate individuals who truly understood my struggles that I was able to shed the weight of shame and grow beyond my challenges. Today, as a recovery mentor and advocate, I bring this profound intimate understanding to help others navigate their own paths. Let me be your guiding hand, sharing both my missteps and successes, to light your journey towards a fulfilling life in recovery.

was finding her way
in and out of sobriety
in and out of the room

showing up
stepping back
coming back again

trying to figure out what would actually stick

One night, someone in the Zoom room shared something that had worked for them:
“what if you put a sticker on your calendar for every day you don’t drink”

She chose Dalmatian stickers 🐾

Not because it was deep
but because she needed to see it

One spot
then another
then another

Days that used to feel uncertain
started becoming something she could point to

And at the end of the month
she looked at it and said

“so many Dalmatians…! SO many spots!”

That’s what this is

Not perfection
not some big dramatic transformation

Just small decisions
that add up
until one day you can see them

And now she has 240 of them

So she got it tattooed

Some things are worth marking
Some things are worth carrying with you

This felt like one of them! 🐾

Do you have recovery or sobriety tattoos?

Drop them in the comments!

SPRING FLING CRAFT SOCIAL 🌸✨

Not every night has to be heavy.

Sometimes recovery looks like
making something with your hands
and sitting in a room where nobody expects anything from you.

April 17th at 8PM EST we’re opening a space to just… be.

Bring whatever you’re working on:
🧵 bracelets
🎨 painting
📓 journaling
🧶 crochet
✨ or nothing at all

You don’t have to talk.
You don’t have to explain yourself.
You don’t have to be “on.”

Just come sit in this.

We’ll craft, chat, or stay quiet
and exist together for a while.
