Wilderness Rescue Training

Wilderness Rescue Training Bringing the highest quality wilderness medical education to the Northeast. Preparedness starts with you. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Wilderness Rescue Training was founded by professional guides to bring the highest quality wilderness medical education to the Northeastern United States. We believe that summer camp trip leaders and survivalists, hikers and hunters, anglers and paddlers should all regularly train to hone their skills. On your course you'll learn how to improvise a splint, stop life threatening bleeding, and work as a member of a high functioning team. You'll be better prepared to act with confidence in remote and challenging environments, for work or just a weekend out.

MAY WFR & WFR RE-CERT RESCHEDULED DUE TO COVID-19

In an effort to safeguard the health of our students and faculty, and to support global efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19, today we made the difficult decision to suspend Wilderness Medicine programming through June 30. We relied heavily on international, federal, and state public health experts to inform our thinking and we remain in close contact with peer organizations and our educational partners.

In light of this, our May 18th-27th WFR and May 30-31 Hybrid WFR Re-cert at the Pok-O-MacCready Outdoor Education Center in Willsboro, NY have been rescheduled. The WFR Re-cert will now run August 17-18 and the WFR will run August 20-28. The rescheduled courses will grant the same certifications, and be held in the same location, for the same price.

WRT Call to Action!

As many of you know, and some of you have experienced, WRT runs some of our courses at the Pok-O-MacCready Outdoor Education Center, which is located on the shores of beautiful Long Pond.

There's a relatively new, super cool, hyper-local nonprofit that's working double time to conserve land in the Long Pond watershed so that the waters of Long Pond remain pristine for future PMOEC students, Pok-O-MacCready Summer Campers, and, of course, our WFR students. Take ten seconds to help the cause by helping build a social media following for Long Pond Conservancy on Instagram. Follow

Thanks!

Friends of Wilderness Rescue Training,

We have just a few more spots left for our Adirondack Wilderness First Responder class, June 1-9. If you know of a group, a friend, or a family member who might like to take this class, will you share this post with them?

It is hard to depict a WFR in just a few words, but I will try. It is an incredible educational experience. You'll be taught by kind, funny, knowledgable and intentional educators. You'll learn how to deal with everything from a fishhook in the hand to an open femur fracture. You'll practice using realistic scenarios. It is hands-on learning, with tons of audience participation. The farthest thing from a Red Cross First Aid class that you can imagine.

And you'll be doing it while staying at a historic Adirondack summer camp on the shores of Long Pond, surrounded by forests and mountains and air that smells delicious. There will be family style meals and the other students will become life-long friends and adventure partners.

Thank you for sharing. The link to enroll is below:

Sometimes bad things happen. How prepared are you to deal with a life-threatening injury or illness on one of your upcoming summer adventures?

We’ve still got a few spaces left in each of our spring wilderness first responder classes. Join us in eastern Pennsylvania in May or in Adirondack Park in June for nine days of interactive, scenario-based first aid training by professional guides.
