Lavender Ceiling

Lavender Ceiling Lavender Ceiling is a space for LGBTQ voices to be heard, recorded, and shared. We Believe in the Right to Live Authentic Lives—Everywhere.

Everyday, in thousands of companies all over America—LGBTQ professionals feel the tremendous weight of being closeted in the workplace. This impossible situation not only causes despair, shame, and isolation—it also consumes productive energy and prevents them from living up to their truest potential. Our mission is to help LGBTQ professionals find a place where they can be exactly who they are; where they can express their talents and skills to the fullest extent and feel total freedom while doing so. We believe that when employees are stifled and shamed, the entire team and company are negatively affected, often in immeasurable ways. Essentially, the end result of discrimination is a lose/lose situation for everyone. That’s why Lavender Ceiling aims to promote progressive companies who value every employee equally, and hold discriminatory companies accountable. Now, LGBTQ professionals’ honest, first hand reviews fills our wider community in on the subtler, often unseen aspects of a company’s culture and practices.

This is what Trump country looks like.

The Human Rights Campaign called out Governor Matt Bevin for signing SB 17 into law, a measure that allows student groups at colleges, universities, and high schools to discriminate against LGBTQ students.

This is not okay.

It is a sad sad world when the internet powers that be start blocking LGBT content as "restricted". Censorship in this capacity is NOT okay.

We made the video for U-Turn with the incredibly talented Seth Bogart. It is a simple and goofy video where we drive around in a plywood car and dance in front of a green screen. I have no idea why this video would be deemed too "sensitive" by YouTube. The other videos of ours that have been restricted? That Girl, which is essentially a tour documentary that includes footage of us performing and sitting backstage. And Alligator, a video where we dance around in snow suits with woolly hats on. I can only assume that the content has been flagged by users who are homophobic and don't want unassuming straight people to be turned gay by seeing us dance. What a shame.

February 7, 2016 marks the 16th year for National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD), a national HIV testing and treatment community mobilization initiative targeted at Blacks in the United States and the Diaspora. NBHAAD was founded in 1999 as a national response to the growing HIV and AIDS epidemic in African American communities. The 2017 theme is “I Am My Brother’s and Sister’s Keeper. Fight HIV/AIDS!”
