Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, uses injections of a concentration of a patient's own platelets to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints. This therapy is available now at Koenigsberg & Associates Pain Management.

We now offer Epidural Lysis of Adhesions. This technique is used to relieve back and radicular pain that is chronic and is usually related to prior back surgery. It is performed as an out patient procedure at the surgery center. Scar tissue causing swelling and inflammation around spinal nerves are disrupted allowing for a reduction of chronic pain.

I am happy to announce that we now offer X-Ray guided injections in our office. For some people this will amount to substantial savings in co-pays.

We offer in office X-Ray guided spine and joint injections. The insurance co-pays will be substantially lower for some insurance plans compared to out patient hospital or surgery center visits.

Radiofrequency Neurotomy is a procedure we perform to reduce low back and neck pain. Facet Joints are located on each vertebrae in the spine. They may become painful due to arthritis or other conditions causing severe back or neck pain.
In this procedure, a heat lesion is created on certain nerves innervating the facet joints with the goal of interrupting the pain signals to the brain, thus eliminating pain. The terms Radiofrequency Ablation and Radiofrequency Neurotomy are used interchangeably. Both terms refer to a procedure that destroys the functionality of the nerve using radiofrequency energy.
Precise needle placement is assisted with X-Ray guidance. The procedure is safe, effective and completed in about 20 minutes.

The practice of Medicine is rapidly changing. It is becoming increasingly more difficult for individual physicians and even groups of physicians to maintain a private practice. Because of the rapid reduction of physician reimbursement private practice physicians are finding it increasingly difficult to stay in business. Treatment plans are increasingly being reviewed by insurance companies. Decisions regarding diagnostic testing and even treatment plans are made by non physicians and even non medically trained administrative staff of insurance companies.

We are all told that the cost of health care is rising rapidly.

I do not know of a single physician that has not had a yearly reduction of income accompanied by an increasing overhead cost and workload in recent years. So where is the money going? This is an important question that needs to be addressed.

As Physicians leave private practice and enter the realm of large employers their diagnostic and treatment plans regarding your care are now influenced by their employer. Referrals to other specialists are also influenced by their employers. The physician patient relationship is rapidly becoming destroyed. This is not the future of medicine. This is happening right now.
