As several songs have reminded us over the years, we all need to "breathe, just breathe" as our days, lives and world feel overwhelming.

Now, you may say this is easier to sing (ahem, say), but taking a minute (or a few) each day to center, no matter how you're feeling, is important.

Plus, performing a breathing practice when you're not overly-taxed can help you do so with ease during a particularly critical situation.

Give the following steps for Controlled Pause Breathing a-go:

1️⃣ Exhale.

2️⃣ Pause your breath.

3️⃣ Count until you need to take a breath or swallow.

4️⃣ Slowly, add seconds to your pause.

5️⃣ Repeat steps 1-4 and try to work your way to a 40-second pause.
