Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home of Doylestown, Inc.

Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home of Doylestown, Inc. Established in 1879 in Mozart, PA the funeral home was originated by James Conard, a cabinet maker by trade, Mr. Mr. Conard was joined by Albert S. S. William C.

Conard manufactured the caskets at the funeral home. Worthington in 1898 who eventually purchased the firm making it the A. Worthington Funeral Home. The business was relocated when the Wycombe facility was built in 1905 for a cost of $3300.00. Varcoe joined the firm as an employee in 1933, eventually purchasing the business when Mr. Worthington died in 1942, changing the name to the William C. Varcoe Funeral Home. In 1962 William's son Wilson G. Varcoe opened the Doylestown Facility where the business is currently located today. In 2001 Francis and Mary Monahan Thomas purchased the business and facility, continuing the tradition of the family owned funeral home as the fifth generation of funeral directors to serve the Central Bucks County community. Although there have been many changes over the past five generations, one principle remains consistent, our commitment to the families that we serve. In January of 2011, Jason and Michele "Oz" Oszczakiewicz purchased the business from Mary Thomas after the passing of her husband Fran Thomas. Jason and Michele are local residents of the area and support the local businesses and organizations of Doylestown and surrounding communities. Jason is a licensed funeral director in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York and has been involved in the funeral industry since the age of 17. He can easily assist families when a death occurs across state lines due to his licensure in the tri-state area. He is also a life insurance producer in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, which allows him to assist families when funding their funeral or cremation arrangments ahead of time. This can alleviate the financial burden that family members face when a loss occurs and assets are limited or depleted due to lack of planning or health care expenses. Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home supports the local community by its memberships in the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce, Doylestown Business Alliance, Doylestown Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus Council of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and other professional organizations and youth sporting programs.

“I need someone who believes that the sun will rise again but who does not fear my darkness. Someone who can point out the rocks in my way without making me a child by carrying me. Someone who can stand in thunder and watch the lightning and believe in a rainbow.” - Fr. Joe Mahoney
