Giving Tuesday was just the start to this Season of Giving. You can still make a difference in Philly this winter!

It’s a wonderful time to give to a cause or program that aligns with your values. Sharing resources, offering help, or donating are not bound to any one day.

PHP proudly joined grantee partner, the Philly Joy Bank, last Saturday to celebrate their official launch with birth justice champions from across the city.

The Philly Joy Bank is a guaranteed income pilot. The goal is to address racial disparities in infant mortality and promote healthy births, perinatal well-being, and optimal childhood development.

This project, developed by the Philadelphia Maternal and Infant Health Community Action Network (PhillyCAN), will recruit 250 pregnant people in their second or third trimester from specific Philly areas.

Participants will receive $1,000 of monthly guaranteed income and voluntary support services during pregnancy and for 12 months postpartum.

The Philly Joy Bank aims to improve participants’ financial stability to help reduce stress during and after pregnancy. As a result, birthing people will gain autonomy and agency to address family priorities and needs.

We have awarded a grant of $200,000 to the Philly Joy Bank, a guaranteed income pilot that will provide pregnant Philadelphians with no strings attached cash with the goal of improving birth outcomes.

The Philly Joy Bank is a project developed by PhillyCAN and works to decrease risks for infant prematurity by improving the mental, physical, and financial health of pregnant people.

Among the ten largest cities in the US, Philadelphia has both the highest poverty rate and highest infant mortality rate — both of which feature profound racial gaps.

PHP advocates for and funds organizations that provide and promote equitable, quality care and services.

We believe in the human right to optimal physical, mental, and social well-being. We support equitable opportunities and outcomes for individuals and groups impacted by structural racism and historic injustice and colonialism.

By working collaboratively across systems and sectors and in partnership with nonprofit organizations, we increase our collective ability to improve health and well-being in Philadelphia.
