When Bess arrived at Temple Health – Chestnut Hill Hospital struggling to breathe, she quickly learned she was facing severe pneumonia and life-threatening sepsis. Our emergency and ICU teams moved fast, providing the expert care she needed — including support from Dr. Shapiro and many other team members who stayed by her side.

After weeks in the ICU, Bess regained her strength and made her way back home, where she’s now enjoying life with her grandkids again. Her husband, Reid, shares the words that mean everything: “They saved my wife.”

We’re grateful to Bess and Reid for sharing their journey, and to our entire care team for the lifesaving work they deliver every day. Read their full story: https://bit.ly/4i4RbSj

At Temple Health, we recognized a critical need in our community — individuals at high risk for stroke who need extra care and support beyond what primary care alone can provide.

That’s why we created the Frazier Personalized Stroke Prevention Program, a collaborative approach bringing together experts like Dr. Nina O'Connor, Chair of Family & Community Medicine at Temple University Health System, E. April Baidal, Family Nurse Practitioner at Temple Health, Laksisha Sturgis, Director of Community Care Management at Temple Health and Dr. Cornelius Pitts, Assistance Professor at Temple University, to help patients take control of their health and reduce their risk of stroke.

Through teamwork and personalized care, we’re helping our community to live longer, healthier lives. Watch the full video to learn more about how this program is making a difference:
