Hello from Philly Thrive in 2026 👋 We are on our way back from some much-needed rest, and we can’t wait to reconnect 💖 We have MANY people & organizations to thank for showing up for us last year when our dream of a federally-funded Climate Resilience Hub for Grays Ferry was taken away. While Thrive members persevered through the wisdom & life experience of overcoming impossible circumstances, our movement family rallied to let us know Philly Thrive is a valued & respected organization — who’s work is not over 🥹 Thank. You. So. Much.

Slowly but surely we are rebuilding with clarified focus & conviction for environmental justice that no administration is capable of containing 🌻 It will be the work of the next year at least, but far too much groundwork has been laid to give up now.

Our birthday month is here! 💓 In extremely dark & devastating times, we are stretching to honor & celebrate the 10 years of work our community has put in to nurturing the people power our world is in need of. 💫 We have had many powerful partners in this decade of work so this birthday series is about profiling the comrades who see us, hear us, and love us. In October we celebrate 10 years of organizing for environmental justice! 🫨 We never would have imagined our mission to stop expansion of the South Philly oil refinery in 2015 would have opened up the journey we’ve been on, but here we are 🧗🏽‍♂️In these extremely upsetting & unjust times, coming together for community and celebration has been what’s kept us going so that’s what we’re gonna do for this milestone— and you’re invited!! 🥳 We’re very much struggling due to impacts from federal funding cuts so this won’t be a fancy party but the Philly Thrive community would love to play, eat, reflect, and celebrate with you all 💓 Link in bio to RSVP!

The Philly Thrive Media Cohort has been collecting photos of Grays Ferry ancestors who have passed. We’re making a mural of remembrance this summer in the neighborhood. Is there someone who passed who you’d like to honor? Want to see them on a mural? Dig those photos out of your closets, basements, and picture frames. Send us photos by JUNE 30. If you need physical photos scanned, let us know.

Celebrating our WIN from yesterday!!! 🎉

Yesterday we won the first bill in the Safe Healthy Homes Act, the Right to Relocation. 🏡

Thank you to all our members and allies who shared their stories, made calls, came to City Hall, and built this movement of true people power. ✊🏾

This is just the beginning … see you in the fall to win the rest of the Safe Healthy Homes Act including the Right to Safety and the Right to Repairs! ✨

🚨 Call for Support for Youth-Led Direct Action🚨
Philly Thrive’s Youth-Led  Community Letter and Art Drop to urge Council President Kenyatta Johnson to mandate that the HRP Group must require all-electric trucks on their site has been postponed from the previous date to NEXT THURSDAY, June 5th, at 4pm at City Hall ‼️

As a reminder, we are asking community members to create an art piece and/or *write a letter in support of this campaign to be dropped off at City Hall to show Council President Johnson how much the residents of this city greatly appreciate him supporting our youth in their fight for clean air in his district! (*A template for the letter-writing portion of the action, along with important facts on how this air pollution affects our community, can be found by swiping through this post)

Please join us at the City Hall Visitor Entrance on 6/5 at 4pm with your letter/art or, if you can’t make it but would like to support, please email your letter to leadershipdevelopment@phillythrive.org by 6/4 so we can include it!
