As the days grow shorter and sunlight fades earlier, many people notice shifts in their mood, focus, and energy. Reduced daylight can disrupt our body’s internal clock (circadian rhythm) and decrease serotonin and vitamin D — both linked to feelings of happiness and alertness. This seasonal dip in energy and motivation is common, and for some, it can lead to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
It’s normal to feel a little slower this time of year. Instead of judging yourself for it, check in with your energy levels compassionately. Ask:
🍂Am I resting enough?
🍂Do I need fresh air or movement?
🍂Is my social battery low or am I craving connection?
Small adjustments — like gentle exercise, journaling, or mindful walks — can make a big difference in keeping your mind balanced and your motivation steady through the darker months.
