THINK BEFORE YOU TREAT!
I'd like to bring a very important and SCARY point to your attention.
I love, absolutely adore, Halloween. Working with children for nearly 19 years makes this holiday delightful. I encourage the focus of this time of year to be about the stories, the creativity of costumes, the surprises, the giggles! Definitely NOT the candy!
You are parents and educators, aunts, uncles, and members of communities with beautiful children. Take a moment to be an advocate for these little ones (And yourself too! We all know how hard it is to pass a candy bowl full of minis and not take a few!)
I could lecture you about the adverse effects of sugars, food dyes, harmful ingredients and the nasty corporations setting up this holiday to become a health nightmare for those lil' princesss and pirates.
Instead I invite you, do your own research. Get creative! Enjoy the delights of this holiday and when your door knocks with the little paw of a cat costume offer up fun and joyful alternatives to cancer-causing-candies. Take time to intelligently choose things like TATTOOS, CRAFTS, PLANT-BASED TREATS, MASKS, BOOKS and all sorts of goulash traditions that are not centered around sugar!

Pictured are my very own creations. And yes, I enjoy these TREATS with children!
Fingers made of dates.
A favorite meal of 'withces hair' made from spaghetti squash, bug-shaped pasta with pesto (or guts), bloody tomato sauce, fried tofu bones.
A creepy antipasti platter.
And of course the Raven's nest of deviled eggs!
And certainly call me if you want more resources or recipes.
May your Trick-or-Treating be spooky and not SCARY.
