RIP DT!
Fifteen years ago today, Kansas City Chiefs' Linebacker Derrick Thomas died from injuries sustained speeding on ice in Kansas City to get to the airport. Four people were in the car. The only one that was wearing his seat belt walked away. One died at the scene, another one at the hospital and DT died a couple of weeks later.
He was known as "The Sackmaster." The quarterback he sacked the most remains a thorn in the sides of Chiefs Kingdom as the Vice President and Director of Operations for the Denver Broncos.
The day of the accident, I was ironically coming home from vacation in which I got to see the "Tuck Rule" game between the Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots. We couldn't land because of the ice. It took a long time to get home as traffic was at a crawl because of the ice. When I got home, I turned on the television (in hopes they were going to close my place of employment) and saw the heartbreaking crawl that Derrick Thomas had been seriously injured.
We at Chief Concerns honor him today (personally I honor him in my own way at every game I attend or Chiefs game I watch on television) as one of the best linebackers in Chiefs History.
What were you doing 15 years ago today?

This past year, Justin Houston broke a Chiefs' record set by Derrick Thomas. I see him breaking more.
