Kids respond to weird. Weird is fun! So, gamify the practice of identifying and expressing gratitude to increase buy-in from your children and teens.
How? Well, instead of asking “what are you grateful for?”— try:
❓“What’s the most bizarre good thing that happened to you today?”
❓“If you could thank an inanimate object, what would it be?”
❓ “What’s something that annoyed you at first, but you’re kind of glad it happened?”
The weirder the questions, the more honest the answers, and the more genuine the connection.
