We were honored to join Lt. Governor Austin Davis yesterday at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center as he announced $3 million in new state funding for hospital-based violence intervention programs (HVIP). We’re especially proud of our friends at Penn, who received a grant to expand their HVIP work and deepen survivor-led responses.
In her remarks, our Executive Director, Natasha Danielá de Lima McGlynn, reminded the room why survivor-led violence intervention matters and what this city is made of:
“Anyone who knows this city —its struggle, its grit, its rise— knows why Meek Mill’s ‘Dreams and Nightmares’ became our anthem… It’s what happens when people who have lived the nightmare become the ones who help others dream again.”
Because our work is exactly that: transforming trauma into power, possibility, and healing. And this new funding enables that transformation, in Philadelphia and throughout Pennsylvania.
Thank you , , , and for showing what commitment to healing really looks like. And thank you for giving Philly a soundtrack that keeps pushing us forward.
