In alignment with the COMHAR Cares Campaign, you can make a difference in the lives of children in our community. COMHAR will be hosting Family Holiday Parties and a Three Kings Day Celebration, and we want every child to experience the joy of receiving a gift.

Thank you to everyone who attended COMHAR’s Food Distribution Event!

COMHAR is proud to stand alongside our community in making a difference. Last week’s food distribution event was a testament to what we can accomplish together.

Special thanks to our incredible COMHAR and NAMI team members and members—your dedication and compassion ensure that families receive not just food, but hope and support.

We also want to recognize Shared Excess for their generous food donations. Your partnership helps us fight food insecurity and bring healthy meals to those who need them most.

And to our generous donors, thank you for supporting the COMHAR Cares campaigns that make events like this possible. Your contributions truly change lives.

Celebrating Community, Resilience, and Mental Wellness on the Wildwood Boardwalk

I had the privilege of attending a truly inspiring event on the Wildwood, NJ boardwalk that honored individuals from COMHAR living with behavioral health challenges and promoted mental wellness.

The atmosphere was filled with warmth, acceptance, and solidarity—a powerful contrast to the stigma that too often surrounds mental health. Watching so many people walk together with pride along the scenic boardwalk was a moving reminder of the strength found in community and shared understanding.

The sound of the ocean, fresh sea air, and the beauty of an open space created a sense of peace and connection for everyone involved. It was a day where differences were embraced, stories were shared, and resilience was celebrated.

A heartfelt thank you to the COMHAR organizers for creating such an inclusive and uplifting experience. Events like this underscore the importance of providing spaces where individuals can connect, feel supported, and know they are part of a caring community.

COMHAR was thrilled to host today’s Food Distribution event!
A huge thank you to our amazing COMHAR team and the NAMI team for working side-by-side to set up, distribute food, and clean up.
Together, we helped over 150 individuals access much-needed food—a true example of collaboration and community care. 💙

Eugene is a proud COMHAR member and a dedicated Special Olympics athlete. Special Olympics is a global movement that provides year-round training and athletic competitions for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Eugene says the program has helped him achieve his goals, support others, and believe in himself.

With 43 medals, he feels proud and grateful for every accomplishment. Thank you, Special Olympics Pennsylvania , for empowering Eugene and so many others!

We’re so proud of his hard work and dedication! Anil's job coach, Jeremiah, has shared that Anil's colleagues look forward to him coming to work and always have a warm greeting or high five for him.

COMHAR’s Vanderwoude Center serves as the heart of our Intellectual Disability (ID) Supports, offering a safe and empowering space for individuals to grow. It is the central hub for our Community Participation Supports and Supported Employment programs.
Through the dedication of our Direct Support Professionals, individuals are supported in developing self-care skills, increasing independence, and—when desired—building vocational skills that can lead to meaningful employment in the community.

Thank you to ShopRite for supporting our members and helping them on their journey to build greater independence!
