The Center for Growth

The Center for Growth Psychological Counseling • Therapy • Support Groups We believe that each individual is unique and has the potential to achieve a fulfilling and rewarding life.

There is no one best way of living; however, there are techniques and attitudes each of us can adopt to experience more pleasure and achieve an increased level of satisfaction. We define success not by how one completes a particular task, but rather by how one keeps going after a set-back. It is often only through failure that the real learning begins. In the process of life mistakes are inevitable. We believe that people who are motivated can learn and grow from their mistakes. It is our belief that there is no right way to go through life – only your way. Trained therapists at the Center for Growth, Inc., are available to work with clients at all stages of life on a wide range of issues to help them achieve greater fulfillment and derive more satisfaction from life.

Most people with low self-esteem don’t struggle because they aren’t doing enough. They struggle because they don’t see what they’re already doing.

Your brain is wired to notice threats — which includes mistakes, awkward moments, or anything that triggers shame.

Journaling helps rebalance that bias by strengthening the pathways that recognize your strengths, effort, and growth.

Try ending your day with just three things that went well or three things you’re proud of. Big or small — it all counts. As you create this habit, you’ll begin to see yourself more clearly and less harshly.

A fixed mindset keeps you stuck in all-or-nothing thinking.

Growth feels risky. Mistakes feel humiliating. Trying feels pointless.

But your mindset is not a personality trait — it’s a habit of thought shaped by past experiences, trauma, and learned patterns of self-protection.

A growth mindset doesn’t magically erase fear; it helps you move forward with fear.

The goal isn’t to be perfect — it’s to stay curious and compassionate with yourself while you grow.

If you want help shifting your mindset, therapy can guide you. To schedule with one of our therapists, call our intake line at 215-922-LOVE (5683) x 100 or self schedule online at https://thecenterforgrowth.com/therapy/schedule-an-appointment

If your brain replays embarrassing moments, highlights your flaws, or insists nothing you do is “enough,” you may be stuck in a fixed mindset.

This mindset makes mistakes feel like proof that you’ll never improve — which leads to shame, avoidance, and low self-esteem.

A growth mindset doesn’t ignore the hard stuff. It simply reframes it. You’re allowed to make progress slowly. You’re allowed to try, fall short, and try again. Every moment is practice.

When you begin acknowledging what went well, you shift your brain’s negativity bias. Confidence grows through repetition, not perfection.

If you want help strengthening a growth mindset, self-esteem therapy can support you. To schedule with one of our therapists, call our intake line at 215-922-LOVE (5683) x 100 or self schedule online at https://thecenterforgrowth.com/therapy/schedule-an-appointment

Today, may we give thanks to the people here before us.
May we give thanks to the land, the people and the things that make us feel full.
May we give thanks to ourselves for showing up to do the work, every-damn-day.

5 Ways to Cultivate Gratitude This Thanksgiving
(Even If This Year Has Been Hard)

1. Notice the “small good things.”
Gratitude doesn’t have to be big or profound. A warm drink, a soft blanket, a quiet moment, a laugh, a kind text — let the small things count.

2. Pause before the meal.
Take one slow breath. Notice the colors, smells, and people around you. Even a five-second pause can shift your nervous system into a more grounded state.

3. Write down one thing you’re grateful for about yourself.
Most people forget this part. Self-gratitude strengthens confidence and balances your inner critic.

4. Tell someone the impact they’ve had on you.
A simple “I appreciate you for…” can deepen connection and make the day feel more meaningful for both of you.

5. Let gratitude and grief coexist.
If this season brings mixed emotions, you’re not doing it wrong. Gratitude doesn’t require perfection — it just asks you to notice what feels good, even briefly, in the midst of everything else.

Gratitude isn’t about forcing joy — it’s about noticing what’s here. Even small moments of presence can soften stress and make the holiday feel more grounded. If this season is complicated, be gentle with yourself. Gratitude and tenderness can exist together.

If you'd like extra support this holiday season, schedule with one of our therapists by calling our intake line at 215-922-LOVE (5683) x 100 or self schedule online at https://thecenterforgrowth.com/therapy/schedule-an-appointment
