Fear of Missing Out is real, and it usually comes up when we think in definitive terms (always, never). When we think that there is something we want to do we sometimes say yes to things that over extend us. When we honor ourself and say that sounds great but I can’t right now due to other obligations we set boundaries. When we tell ourselves there will be a next time and make a plan for a next time we feel less disappointment.

Feeling anxious isn’t the problem. What the problem actually is, is when we decide we never want to feel threatened like that again & then decide to get safe & comfortable by getting rid of any scary doubt/uncertainty that pops up! When we act on our decision to avoid, we make more fear for ourselves, elicit stronger & more symptoms, and a bigger urge to avoid thus creating a never ending cycle of anxiety!

We will chat about this tonight in my uncertainty group!! There’s still time to sign up! If you can’t make it, don’t worry it’s being recorded so you can still get all the info!!

One year down with the virus disrupting our lives, our sense of safety and “normalcy”. One year of pausing our lives and plans, of not seeing our people, of living in fear and constant uncertainty. We didn’t plan for this, but we got through it as best as we could. This is embracing uncertainty! We didn’t like it but we got through a lot of uncomfortable situations. We can do hard things, our brains are not very good at predicting how we will handle situations. We actually end up predicting that we can’t do something or it will feel worse then it actually ends up being.

Raise your hand if you have intense conversations in the shower with yourself... 🙋🏼‍♀️
Don’t worry these are normal but can get in the way of coping with your anxiety if they are the only conversations you are having!!

Rumination — is the repetition of the same thought, situation, choice or potential conversation in your head over and over and it impacts your normal daily functioning.

The difference between a healthy amount of thinking about a topic, versus harmful rumination, is the end result. If you find yourself thinking about a particular problem and are working on coming up with the best solution, you’re probably not ruminating. But if the thing on your mind that you keep thinking and talking about has no solution, or may not be in your control, or you don’t act on it (that shower conversation) then you might be ruminating.

The problem with rumination is that it doesn’t offer any new insight and these thoughts are usually based around uncertainty. Problem solving, coming up with action steps (if there are any) and mindfulness and the key ways to stop rumination.

Happy International Women’s Day!!!
I believe that when women support each other they are able to accomplish anything!!! I surround myself with inspiring women in all areas of my life!
Fun fact about me is that I went to an all girls Catholic high school. When I tell people this their first response usually is something like “wow that must have been awful”. I always say No, not at all, it was where I met some of my best friends who are my biggest cheerleaders and supports to this day!! This is also where I learned that when women support each other they can do anything, and being called a bitch can be a compliment!!

All of us experience uncertainty on a regular basis, for some uncertainty is intolerable and interpreted as dangerous or threatening, where others are more tolerant of it. When we are able to tolerate uncertainty more we are able to reduce our worry and general anxiety.

This group is for those that don’t like uncertainty!! In this workshop you will learn about yourself and your intolerance of uncertainty and the skills needed to be able to sit with and accept uncertainty during these difficult times!

Space is limited so be sure to sign up today!!
