UPDATE: As of 7:35 am, we are back online and seeing patients, as scheduled.

Due to the global IT outage, our computers are currently down. We are also unable to email patients to keep everyone updated on our status. If you have an appointment today, Friday, July 19, please call the office BEFORE COMING IN to see if we are back online. We are working diligently with our IT provider to get back online as soon as possible.

We hope everyone had a nice holiday and is ready to ring in the New Year! We are incredibly excited to announce that we are expanding our dental team. First, we are actively looking to hire a dental assistant. If you know someone great, please have them email or call us so we can meet them. Also, we are very excited to announce that we have added a new hygienist to our team. Taylor Gabriel has been working Fridays for us since early in the fall, and she is so great, we are making her a permanent part of our team. Taylor will be adding Mondays and Wednesdays to her schedule at the end of January. This means we will have several new appointments to offer patients who are on our waiting list. We will be working for the next several weeks to offer these appointments to patients on our waiting list, but if you are on this list and want to move into one of these earlier January or February dates, please give us a call. And if you have been waiting to schedule your appointment, please call us soon as we anticipate these appointments filling quickly also. We are excited about these changes, and we wanted our patients to be the first to know. Happy New Year!

We are so excited to Welcome Back Dr. Kate Cooper from her maternity leave next Wednesday, September 9th! We are now accepting appointments for Dr. Kate, so if you have been waiting for her return to schedule, now is your chance!

As some of you may have heard already, Dr. Kate and her husband, Sam, had a baby boy, Solomon Cooper, on May 29. Everyone is doing well, and Dr. Kate is ready to get back and see her patients next week.

Please give us a call at 215-334-2000 to schedule your appointment with Dr. Kate and help us welcome her back in person!

We made a short video for what our patients can expect of their new check-in process as we start to expand our services and hours starting June 22. Call and get on our waiting list for your preventive appointment as we work to rebuild the schedule to adhere to CDC and OSHA guidelines. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we navigate this new process.

While nothing can take the place of a professional teeth cleaning or whitening, our doctors have compiled the following list for patients who are interested in keeping up with their oral health as best as possible during this time that we are unable to perform preventive services. Our doctors did the best they could to select products that offer a range of price points, and please note, our office does not sell any of these items, nor do we receive anything in return should our patients purchase them from this list. Please feel free to use it as a guide and purchase from wherever you feel most comfortable. Also, please call 215-334-2000 with any questions. Still open limited hours for emergency-only appointments for the time being. If you are not sure if your issue qualifies as an emergency, call us and we’ll help guide you through it. We know a lot of our patients are currently at home teaching their children. Dr. Barnes made this video last week for his son’s school as part of his “virtual STEM week” and we wanted to share for any kids (or parents) who might find technology and dentistry interesting. Stay safe, everyone!

Check out this Philadelphia Inquirer article with our own Dr. Barnes quoted at the end. Our doctors and staff worked all week to advocate for these restrictions being lifted. We are so happy to be able to see emergency patients again with screening and social distancing policies in place. Stay safe, everyone, and if possible, stay home.

Pennsylvania walked back dental work restrictions to make it easier for people to get emergency care.

We are happy to report that the Pennsylvania Department of Health amended their order for dental providers earlier tonight. Therefore, we are now allowed to start seeing emergencies in our office again, starting tomorrow, Friday, March 27.

We have a long list of patients that called this week needing emergency care, and we are going to start seeing patients that have been in the most pain or experiencing infection. We appreciate your patience as we start this process of opening back up tomorrow morning.

As always, please call us with any dental issues, so we can help keep our emergency rooms clear. Someone will be in the office tomorrow starting at 8:00 am, and next week, we plan to resume our 10:00 am-2:00 pm emergency hours for as long as the COVID-19 crisis lasts. As we continue to wait for the Health Department to amend its order and allow dentists in Pennsylvania to see emergency patients again, we just wanted to remind our patients that we are still taking calls and our doctors are still able to speak to anyone in pain and provide teledentistry, so please reach out. 215-334-2000 for the main office number or 215-315-3211 for Dr Barnes after hours cell. We hope to have an update as to when we can see emergency patients again soon.

WE WERE NOTIFIED LATE LAST NIGHT THAT THE PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH HAS DECIDED TO HALT ALL DENTAL CARE, INCLUDING EMERGENCIES, IN THE ENTIRE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA. Therefore, we cannot open today, Monday, March 23, and we are not sure when we will be able to open for emergencies again. The Department of Health is mandating that any dental office have N95 masks and negative pressure rooms in order to see patients, even for an exam. We do not have N95 masks (if we did, we would have donated them to our local hospitals already) and we do not know of a single dental facility that has a negative pressure room. We are spending today speaking to anyone we can to get clarity on this order and to HOPEFULLY HAVE IT AMENDED so that we may continue to see true emergencies in our office ASAP, according to the ADA and CDC guidelines we were already following. In the meantime:
