Are you experiencing binge eating, emotional eating, or out-of-control eating and have you been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes?

The Drexel University WELL Center is looking for participants interested in joining a research study designed to help individuals with type 2 diabetes both lose weight and reduce binge eating.

You must be age 18 or older and meet criteria for binge eating for participation in a 10-week outpatient group treatment study. Are you interested in losing weight? Researchers at Drexel University are looking for volunteers to participate in a weight loss study comparing different methods for tracking what you eat to lose weight. Study participants will receive individual weight loss coaching over 12 weeks and attend two assessment sessions. All study procedures will be conducted remotely. Eligible participants will receive coaching for free and $20 for attending the final assessment session. Participants must be 18 years or older, with no history of weight loss surgery, and have a BMI of 25 to 50, with no more than 5% of body weight lost in the past 3 months. Participants must either own or be willing to purchase a digital scale that can measure body weight to the nearest tenth of a pound. We are 4 full-time research coordinators to work under the direction of Dr. Evan Forman, Dr. Adrienne Juarascio, and/or Dr. Stephanie Manasse! The start date for the positions is somewhat flexible and encompasses Feb ’22 through Aug ’22.

Responsibilities include overall coordination of all study elements; implementing an advertisement/recruitment plan; refining and implementing the assessment protocol; scheduling and conducting participant screening and clinical assessments; managing data and databases; maintaining contact and approvals with NIH and IRB; collecting data with wearable sensors.
