Dana Bannigan Doula Services

Dana Bannigan Doula Services Supporting mothers and families from pregnancy thru birth and the postpartum period I am willing to barter for a portion of services.

Hi, my name is Dana Bannigan and I am a certified birth doula with Childbirth International. As a birth doula, I provide evidence based childbirth education to expectant parents to enable them to make informed decisions for their care. My goal is to provide unwavering support for all types of birth, natural unmedicated, cesarean section, and vaginal birth with the use of an epidural and/or narcotic pain relief. I work alongside your care provider to ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience, and to reassure expectant parents thru the process of childbirth. I provide comfort measures such as massage, aromatherapy, and relaxation exercises. My full service package includes an initial consultation, two prenatal visits, my attendance at your birth, help with the first feeding immediately after birth (whether breast or bottle feeding), and one post partum visit. Please see my website for a description of services and contact me for pricing. I also offer post partum support to ease the transition for new parents. This includes breastfeeding support, light housekeeping duties, childcare, and anything else that would be of assistance to a new family. The cost of these services vary greatly depending on time of day, location, and length of visit. Please contact me for more details. I believe that birth is an inherently safe and natural process, and acknowledge that medical advances have helped a great number of women and their babies. However, I believe that when this "help" is provided to all women, regardless of their individual circumstances and without medical indication, we are doing families a disservice. Birth can and should be a positive life-altering experience and my goal is to help expectant parents define the ideal birth and achieve it in whatever setting they choose: hospital, birth center or home.

It has been a long 5 months since I attended a birth, in person. (Virtual services are available)

The only facility that is currently permitting doulas is Lifecycle Woman Care, a patient based, woman centered pregnancy and weep woman care center. I strongly encourage all birthing people to contact their hospital or facility of choice, and advocate for the presence of your doula.

You paid good money to have me there! 😉 I can work alongside you to affect policy change at your hospital too. Please contact me, anytime!

Also, let's see some of your beautiful families, let's brighten our News Feed with pictures of tue ones we love

My latest 4 a.m. poem titled, “Daddy’s Asleep:” I love your daddy, I really do,After all, without daddy, I wouldn’t have you.But from midnight till sunrise, it’s just you and I.And as each hour passes, I’m not gonna lie:Mommy’s love slowly fades, becomes angry and weak,Because no matte...

"It takes the human body 40 weeks to birth a full-term baby. And in that time, women are expected to keep working (sometimes at the expense of their bodies and babies), and carry on with life as though the multitude of pregnancy symptoms aren’t distracting and at times, downright debilitating. And while giving birth is normal and natural, it actually does require time for birthing mothers to recover. The emotional, psychological and physical burdens of carrying and delivering a baby continue beyond the delivery room. Yet 25% of women in the U.S. have to go back to work in just two weeks to make ends meet. In a country steeped in tradition that prides itself on putting the family on a pedestal, how is it possible that we don’t offer mothers paid leave when they are vulnerable and need help the most?"

In the U.S. where only 14% of civilian workers have access to paid parental leave and 25% of women go back to work within 2 weeks of giving birth, it's become normal to feel grateful if you have any access to paid leave. But 6, 8, even 12 weeks is not enough for the wellbeing of your employees.
