Fertility care begins with understanding what may be influencing conception.

A comprehensive fertility evaluation looks at several important factors, including hormone levels, ovarian reserve, uterine health, and s***m parameters when a partner is involved.

These insights help guide the next steps and allow treatment to be tailored to the specific factors affecting fertility.

At Society Hill Reproductive Medicine, Dr. Maureen Kelly uses this information to design individualized treatment plans that support each patient’s path toward building a family.

Patients from Philadelphia, the Main Line, and South Jersey visit SHRM for evidence-based fertility care delivered with compassion and attention to detail.

Many everyday environmental exposures can influence reproductive health over time.

Certain chemicals known as endocrine disruptors can interfere with hormone signaling that supports ovulation, s***m development, and embryo health.

Common exposures patients often reduce when preparing for pregnancy include:
🧴 Plastics and food containers that contain BPA
🧼 Household products that contain hormone-disrupting chemicals
🥗 Pesticide exposure from unwashed produce

💡 Fertility Tip of the Month with Dr. Maureen Kelly at Society Hill Reproductive Medicine:
While no single exposure determines fertility outcomes, small lifestyle adjustments over time can help support a healthier reproductive environment for both partners.

What is IUI?

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is one of the most commonly used fertility treatments. The procedure involves placing specially prepared s***m directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation to increase the chances of fertilization.

IUI may be recommended for several fertility situations, including ovulation disorders, mild male factor infertility, unexplained infertility, or patients using donor s***m.

At Society Hill Reproductive Medicine in Philadelphia, every treatment plan is personalized to support each patient’s family-building goals.

If you’re exploring fertility treatment options, our team is here to help guide you.

Hormone balance is closely connected to metabolic health, including how the body regulates blood sugar.

Even mild insulin resistance can influence ovulation patterns, egg quality, and hormone signaling within the reproductive system.

Important factors that support metabolic and reproductive health include:
🥗 Balanced nutrition patterns that support stable blood sugar
🏃 Consistent physical activity and muscle health
🧪 Screening for conditions such as PCOS or insulin resistance when indicated

💡 Fertility Tip of the Month with Dr. Maureen Kelly at Society Hill Reproductive Medicine:
Understanding metabolic health can help identify factors that influence ovulation and hormone balance. Treatment plans may include lifestyle strategies, medications, or fertility therapies designed to support conception.

Stories like Rebecca’s remind us why fertility care matters so deeply.

Rebecca first connected with Dr. Maureen Kelly at an Egg Freezing 101 event in Philadelphia back in 2017. After learning more about fertility preservation, she decided to freeze her eggs that same year.

Years later, those frozen eggs helped Rebecca and her husband Marc welcome their beautiful baby girl, Dylan.

Recently, Rebecca returned to Society Hill Reproductive Medicine with her 12-week-old daughter to say hello and thank Dr. Kelly and our team for the role we played in their family-building journey.

Moments like these remind us why we do this work. From fertility preservation to pregnancy, we are honored to support patients at every stage of their journey.

When people first think about fertility treatment, IVF often comes to mind right away.

In practice, treatment plans can involve several different approaches depending on what is affecting conception.

For some individuals, ovulation induction medications or cycle monitoring may help support regular ovulation. Others may benefit from intrauterine insemination (IUI), which places prepared s***m into the uterus at the time of ovulation.

The starting point is always a comprehensive fertility evaluation. From there, Dr. Maureen Kelly develops a treatment plan that reflects the patient’s diagnosis, timeline, and family-building goals.

Understanding the full range of options can make the process feel far less overwhelming.

For some patients, donor s***m can play an important role in building their family.

At Society Hill Reproductive Medicine, we work with trusted cryobanks that meet the quality standards of the CCRM Fertility network. Donor s***m may be used as part of several fertility treatments, including IUI and IVF, depending on each patient’s individualized care plan.

Patients at our Philadelphia fertility clinic may also qualify for savings through Fairfax Cryobank. CCRM patients can receive a discount when purchasing multiple donor s***m vials and may be eligible for complimentary storage.

If you are exploring fertility options that include donor s***m, our team can help guide you through the process and available resources.

https://link.msgsndr.com/sp/e5308054a74Many patients assume fertility challenges are primarily related to egg health, but s***m DNA quality can also influence fertilization and embryo development.

Even when s***m count and movement appear normal, fragmentation within the s***m DNA can affect embryo development and pregnancy outcomes.

Factors that may influence s***m DNA health include:
🌡 Heat exposure such as hot tubs, saunas, or laptops placed on the lap
🚭 Smoking and environmental toxin exposure
🥗 Nutrition, antioxidants, and overall metabolic health

💡 Fertility Tip of the Month with Dr. Maureen Kelly at Society Hill Reproductive Medicine: Male fertility plays an important role in successful conception. Evaluating s***m health early allows us to identify contributing factors and design treatment plans that support the best possible outcomes.

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month.

Endometriosis affects many women during their reproductive years and can sometimes impact fertility. The condition occurs when tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, often causing symptoms such as pelvic pain, heavy periods, or difficulty conceiving.

While endometriosis can create challenges for some patients, many are still able to grow their families with the right care and guidance.

At Society Hill Reproductive Medicine in Philadelphia, Dr. Maureen Kelly works closely with patients to understand how endometriosis may affect fertility and to develop personalized treatment plans designed to support their family-building goals.

If you have been diagnosed with endometriosis and are thinking about starting a family, a fertility consultation can help you better understand your options.

03/11/2026

It is common to focus on eggs and embryos during fertility treatment, but the health of the uterine lining plays an equally important role in pregnancy.

For implantation to occur, the uterine lining must develop the right thickness and structure at the right time in the cycle. If the environment is not optimal, even a healthy embryo may have difficulty implanting.

Important factors that influence uterine lining health include:
🌱 Balanced estrogen and progesterone levels throughout the cycle
🩺 Identifying underlying conditions such as fibroids, polyps, or inflammation
📊 Monitoring lining development through ultrasound during treatment cycles

💡 Fertility Tip of the Month with Dr. Maureen Kelly at Society Hill Reproductive Medicine:
Successful implantation depends on the environment the embryo enters. During fertility treatment, we carefully monitor the uterine lining and hormone levels so embryo transfer occurs when the uterus is most receptive.
