“Yes, I lost hair.

I, too, went to bed fearing I wouldn’t wake up tomorrow.

And, yes, I also felt unseen and unheard.

You are not Alone.

I am a Lyme warrior, five years into remission, with a calling to help others to feel a little less scared and alone.

Like so many, I went undiagnosed and misdiagnosed for twenty plus years. The one diagnosis that stuck was the incurable, chronic illness, fibromyalgia. Over the next twenty years, my symptoms spread to nearly every organ system in my body. Once I started treatment, uncertainty and isolation wrapped itself around me.

I was surrounded by a sea of unknowns, drifting in a boat of despondency. Pain, fear, and suffering bounced off my boat like a thousand tiny rain drops, saturating every waking moment. Uncertainty swallowed me up. I wondered constantly if anyone else was experiencing what I was experiencing.

Five years into remission, reflecting upon what makes treating Lyme disease so scary, I realize it’s the uncertainty. The not knowing. The silence and loneliness that envelop this disease.

That is why I share my experiences, creating a safe space for all you amazing warriors. It is why I wrote my memoir and why I continue to share about what I went through on my blog. I want to hold the hand of as many Lyme patients as I can, wrap you all in a warm blanket and run a hot bath for you. Keep fighting my friends. You can reach remission!”

➡️ Primarily feed on groundhogs, so they are not an important vector for Lyme disease (white footed mouse harbors Lyme)
➡️ Can carry Powassan Virus, which can be transmitted in as little as 15 minutes.
➡️ Will feed on birds, small animals and humans
➡️ Adult female is about the size of a sesame seed & reddish tan.

𝐁𝐄 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐄 while you’re with your family outdoors in this warmer weather‼️

Per new data from the CDC, Emergency rooms nationwide are reporting a record-breaking increase in tick bite cases.

According to Director of the University of Rhode Island’s Center for Vector-Borne Disease and its TickEncounter Resource Center, Dr. Thomas Mather, and Dr. Tom Daniels. July 2025 is already surpassing previous highs set in 2017.

With ticks being so plentiful right now, they both have said that it’s likely that more people will end up getting sick from tick-borne infections. Lyme disease is still the top concern when it comes to tick bites, but note that ticks can transmit other pathogens as well.

For those that like to golf like my own Husband and my Dad, please take precautions✔️

This is a great checklist from organization PA Lyme Resource Network has come up with to help prevent tick bites. YES it is quite often that we’ve sadly seen those who have gotten a on the golf course. If that ball goes into any high grass or edging. Leave it. Don’t take the chance!! It’s not worth it.

It's warm weather in PA and that means golfing. As we swing into summer (see what we did there), it's all about tick prevention! ⛳

Please take the proper tick prevention steps to have a safe and enjoyable golf experience.

And, if you have a kid who is a caddy this summer, please make sure they are:
✅ Wearing Permethrin treated shoes, socks and pants

✅ Doing tick checks after work
✅ Putting shoes, socks, pants into the dryer on high heat for 10 minutes - high heat kills ticks on clothing/shoes
