Celebrating creative work that animates the inanimate: puppetry, animation, robotics, movement theater, shadow shows, automatons, performative sculptures, and more. Moreover, we seek to harness the power of ensouled objects to improve everything from consumer products to hospital care.
[Phantasmagoria (n.) - A popular 18th- and 19th-century form of theatre entertainment whereby ghostly apparitions are formed. A dreamlike state where real and imagined elements are blurred together. A poem by Lewis Carroll.]
The Phantasmagoria is not a destination but a collection of experiences - exhibitions on sidewalks, in parks, and abandoned storefronts; public performances; articles and discussions featuring creative professionals in the fields of robotics, performance, and fine art; interactive animations and sculptures; workshops for children and artists; and new opportunities for creative people to develop works that ensoul objects. The Phantasmagoria is based out of Philadelphia, PA, USA. We are always seeking partner organizations and creative makers to help us develop new initiatives.
