CFAR is a nonprofit counseling center serving the needs of individuals, couples, and families.

CFAR was founded more than 20 years ago with the intent to support and empower struggling families. Today, we continue the work that began with our founder, Maryann Volk and reach a broad and diverse population. The staff at CFAR is passionate about working with families to create safety, resiliency, heal and make lifelong positive changes. If you or your family are "feeling stuck", consider making an intake appointment to meet with a therapist and learn new coping skills to have a positive influence on your life!

CFAR is proud of Philadelphia's efforts to bridge the food insecurity gap in light of the federal shutdown impact on SNAP benefits. This food and meal finder is part of the One Philly SNAP Support Plan to help the estimated 500,000 residents impacted, including many of our clients.

What a perfect way to refresh after a sugar-fueled Halloween! Our Community Health Break at on Saturday was an absolute blast. Everyone had a chance to move their bodies with lots of great music, the kiddos competed in a very cool mental health obstacle course, and there were plenty of games and activities to keep folks of all ages engaged. We were able to share some great information and resources with the attendees, and our team came away more inspired than ever to continue this incredible work in the community. Thank you again to the Social Justice Fund and our Community Wellness Sponsors (, , ) for making events like these possible.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT! Due to an issue with Overbrook Elementary, we have had to move our Fall Family Event to just a few blocks down the road at 5901 W Columbia Avenue. We love seeing the creativity in our Together Through Trauma program! Trauma therapist Christina Fogle encouraged the kiddos to express what makes them happy during a recent emotional education workshop and the results are beautiful.

In just over two weeks, CFAR’s Together Through Trauma program is holding a Community Health Break on November 1st from 2-5pm at Overbrook Elementary School. There will be dancing, an obstacle course, sack race, art, and other activities, all created with mental health and wellness themes. We’ll also have games, delicious subs, hot chocolate, fun snacks, and lots of giveaways and prizes.
