Sister always loved a scagliola inlay fireplace surround and hearth commission (see last photo) we did for many years ago. So we made a kitchen backsplash and hood for her! We took a section and made a repeat pattern. Because it was not originally designed as a repeat the pattern the final repeated design is very "ribbon" like and created this great movement of swirls and loops. A happy accident! We designed the scagliola hood to work with the backsplash. The large architectural scagliola moldings give it the weight and border it deserves. Never be afraid of large moldings!!
