Get ready to 🌟 GLOW! Trick-or-treaters should be able to SEE and be SEEN. Carrying a flashlight is a must. Her are some other costume tips to keep your kiddos safe:
💄 Use face makeup instead of masks.
🔆 Add reflective tape to costumes and trick-or-treat bags. If possible, have everyone wear light-colored clothing.
🔥 Use flame-resistant costumes and wigs.
⚠️ When choosing costumes, stay away from long trailing fabric so no one trips and falls.
👁️ Avoid using decorative contact lenses to avoid problems with your eyes.

🎉 Disaster Action Team (DAT) volunteers Helen and Roy present new DAT Specialist Kevin with his iconic Red Cross disaster vest! Congrats, Kevin!
When an emergency happens, our local DAT volunteers are trained and ready to respond, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They provide comfort and support, emergency shelter, critical supplies, financial assistance and more when families don’t have anywhere else to turn.
Turn Around, Don't Drown! If you're out on the road today and you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around and go another way. Just 12 inches of water can carry your vehicle away.
The forecast for the storm impacting the region through Friday remains on track. The most significant change is an expansion of the Coastal Flood Advisory for the tidal Delaware River. Check the full briefing at weather.gov/media/phi/current_briefing.pdf for more details.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Philadelphia radio legend Pierre Robert of 93.3 WMMR Philadelphia. For two decades, Pierre was an instrumental part of the I Bleed for Preston & Steve Blood Drive, showing up year after year with unmatched enthusiasm for his listeners and our donors. He brought smiles, laughter and a powerful voice to the cause—encouraging thousands to roll up their sleeves and donate blood. His dedication helped save lives, and his presence always lifted our team’s spirits. Pierre’s legacy is one of generosity, joy and unwavering support for his community. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

DYK? Children are more than TWICE as likely to be hit by a car and killed on than on any other day of the year. Let's make this year safer!
👣 Walk, don't run. Make sure your trick-or-treater walks on the sidewalk, not on the street. Look both ways before crossing the street and never cross between parked cars.
🔦 Give your little ghost or goblin a flashlight. Add reflective tape or a glow stick to their costumes and trick-or-treat bags.
🚸 A responsible adult should accompany young children. If older children are going out alone, help them plan their route in advance and set a specific return time.
🚗 Drivers — use EXTRA caution as youngsters may forget to look both ways before crossing.

Hurricane Melissa is now a powerful Category 5 storm heading towards Jamaica and other Caribbean islands. Because it's moving slowly, some areas will face more rainfall and floodwaters, which could devastate homes, communities, and livelihoods.
We're responding alongside several international Red Cross societies. Here's what's happening:
- We're supporting the U.S. Navy's efforts to relocate people from military installations in the storm's path and ensuring that those who had to leave quickly have essentials, like baby supplies.
- The Jamaica Red Cross has already mobilized volunteers and pre-positioned disaster supplies so help can reach people as soon as the storm passes.
- In Hispaniola and Cuba, local Red Cross teams are evacuating families to safer areas, providing mental health support, and working with local officials on their response.
This storm is striking regions already burdened by poverty and recent disasters. As the full impact of Hurricane Melissa unfolds, Red Cross teams will be there to bring relief to those who need it most.
