Matilda Politsky (née Yarmie) of Philadelphia passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Martin Politsky and loving mother to Teresa Beaver (Mark), Daniel (Karen), and Nancy Burns (Bill). Matilda was a devoted grandmother to Michael, Patrick, Danielle, Andrew, Alex, Patrick, Katie, and Brian, and a proud great-grandmother to Natalie Matilda.

Matilda was born on August 14, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, one of four children. She was a proud graduate of Saint Basil Academy, a Ukrainian boarding school in Fox Chase. Matilda maintained close friendships with her classmates for more than 70 years after graduation - a testament to the deep and lasting bonds formed there. She cherished her Ukrainian heritage and took great pride in sharing its traditions with her family.

She began working in Manhattan at the Empire State Building and later continued her secretarial career in Philadelphia, holding various positions before retiring from Moss Rehabilitation.

Matilda met the love of her life, Martin, while he was stationed at the Brooklyn Naval Shipyard serving aboard the USS Irwin. Together they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage and built their life together in the Rhawnhurst section of Philadelphia, where they were devoted members of Resurrection Parish. Oakmont Street was her cherished home for 70 years.

Even at 92, Matilda maintained an active social life, especially with her Senior friends from Resurrection. Music was one of her greatest joys. She proudly sang with the Sweet Adelines Philadelphia Chorus for over 40 years and continued to enjoy time with her singing friends long after she stopped competing.

Matilda treasured her summers down the Jersey Shore staying at Echo Farms Campground, where she and Martin created a lifetime of cherished memories with family and friends. She also had a deep love of travel, exploring destinations throughout the United States and around the world. In retirement, she and Martin particularly enjoyed attending Naval reunions and traveling with loved ones.

Known for her gentle spirit and unwavering positivity, Matilda truly saw life as the glass half full and inspired others to do the same. She had a remarkable ability to find the good in every situation and to lift the spirits of those around her with encouraging words and quiet strength. Her kindness, optimism, and ever-present warm smile touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Family and friends are invited for a viewing on Monday, April 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Visconto Funeral Home (2031 Vista Street, Philadelphia; parking and handicap accessibility in the rear). A viewing will also be held on Tuesday, April 7, from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at Resurrection of Our Lord Church (2000 Shelmire Street, Philadelphia), followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you perform an act of kindness in Matilda’s memory.

Pamela ‘Pam’ (nee Denicola), beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, just two days before her 81st birthday. Born on March 23, 1945, Pam lived a life marked by deep love for her family, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear.

Pam was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tom Stuhl, who passed on December 5, 2021. Together, they built a home centered on faith, family, and enduring commitment—a legacy that continues through the generations they nurtured.

Pam’s greatest joy came from her role as “Grandmom” to Danny, Ryan, Emilee, Amber, Rocco, Cienna, Sarah, Donovan, Jason, Hannah, Kaileigh, and Mary. Her love only grew as she became a proud great-grandmother to Jayden, Shawn, Sophia, Donovan Jr., and Coran, with another precious great-grandson expected in May 2026.

She leaves behind a testimony of grace and a confidence that she is now in the presence of her Savior.

Pam will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and the way she made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Whether through a kind word, a listening ear, or simply her presence, she had a gift for bringing comfort and joy to those around her. She also found great joy in life’s simple pleasures—playing games like pinochle with friends and taking peaceful drives through the countryside. Her life was a beautiful reflection of love in action—selfless, faithful, and enduring.

Lis

Edward J. Lis “Ed” born June 26, 1955 passed away peacefully in his home on February 24, 2026 after a courageous battle with several health issues. Ed was the beloved husband of Renee (nee McDevitt) for 47 years and a devoted father to Colleen (Mike). He was a proud and dedicated Pop-Pop to Grace and Jack. Cherished only child of the late Edward and Betty Lis.

Ed grew up in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia and attended Northeast Catholic high school. He began his career on the waterfront as a longshoremen at the age of 18 until his retirement at the age of 63.

Ed went through this world with a quiet calm about him. He would always greet everyone with a smile on his face and with a kind word. Ed was very generous with his time and was always ready to lend a helping hand or be a listening ear. He was unapologetically himself and the king of one liners.

Ed enjoyed a perfectly coordinated outfit, good food, vacations, and trips to Atlantic City with his “number one teammate.” As an only child, Ed cherished his friendships. There was always time for “one more” or an after party. Above all else, Ed enjoyed being surrounded by his little close knit family. As an adoring Pop-Pop nothing mattered to him more than spending quality time with his grandkids. His presence will be forever missed!

Family and Friends are invited to a visitation to celebrate Ed’s life Saturday March 7th 9:30am-11:00 AM at Our Lady of Calvary Church, 11024 Knights Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154 followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers or donations, Ed’s family asks that you “pay it forward” and help out a friend, family member or perfect stranger as Ed always loved to do.
