Our community is enriched by all of the talents and histories of our residents. One of our residents, Jon, could be considered a renaissance man. Jon has been in our community for several years now, and in this time, he has used his crafting talents to make beautiful, framed pictures created by our resident's jigsaw puzzles! You can take one of these pictures home yourself! Jon sells the framed puzzles, and all proceeds go directly to Jon and his work. Please take the time to stop by our gallery on the 2nd floor, and if you are interested in taking a puzzle home, connect with our front desk! Thank you so much to Jon for helping our community be a creative and colorful place for all.

Spring Mill is all about finding ways to support and even increase our residents' feelings of autonomy and independence. This week, we had LAMP, or the Library of Accessible Media for Pennsylvanians, come to visit and help support that cause. LAMP provides resources to any of us who need assistance reading standard print books. During their presentation, residents were able to ask questions unique to their circumstances on the ways in which LAMP can help reunite residents with their love of reading. Thank you so much to Juanita, Rob, and LAMP for coming and providing this education for our residents.

For the holiday season, we had our staff celebrating with a week-long spirit week as a special thank you to all of the wonderful people that make Spring Mill special. Throughout the week, if staff participated in our themes each day, they could put in a ticket for a beautiful basket donated by Caring Hospice Services. Our care staff, Shelby, was the lucky winner of this basket! Thank you to Shelby for all of her hard work, and thank you to all of our Spring Mill staff for being the special people that you are.

Happy New Years, everyone! We want to kick off this new year with sharing our resident spotlight for the month. Christina has been a part of our community for just a short time, however she has made such a wonderful impact. She is always smiling, sharing her joy, and making our activities all the more fun. Here is a little snippet from Christina's spotlight article:
"Christina entered the world during the famous blizzard of 1947 in Oceanside, New York on Long Island. She spent her early childhood in Hoboken, New Jersey, living there with her older sister from age five to twelve before the family relocated to Manhattan's Upper West Side.
Christina was a social child who thrived outdoors, jumping rope, playing hopscotch, and roller skating with friends. Living in Manhattan opened doors to cultural treasures. She frequented the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and her favorite, the Museum of Natural History."
There is so much more to know about Christina, so be sure to pick up a newsletter at the front desk to hear the whole story! Thank you Christina!
