Vajra Body-Strength & Movement Coaching

Vajra Body-Strength & Movement Coaching Personalized Functional Fitness Coaching The Sanskrit word "Vajra" means indestructibility, daimond-like.

Vajra Body provides integrative personal training using a variety of methods including: Kettlebells, Sandbags, ViPR, TRX suspension and Rip training, calisthenics, yoga, progressive balance and mobility exercises, and mindfulness meditation. Originally the vajra was a royal scepter that kings held as a symbol of their power. At Vajra-Body I believe this sense of innate dignity from holding the scepter of your own "Vara-Body"- a strong resilient, mobile, pain free body can be actualized. Through progressive movement, play, and strength training, I believe you can rise about the physical and mental limitations you have self-imposed. Your potential is very much alive, it's not dead, it's living within you. We merely must recognize, acknowledge and confirm this fact in our own experience, bringing his fact to light is the very purpose of training in the gym.

The swimming cobra 🐍 because my spinal extension, scapular stabilizers, & shoulders in end range are all weak, which has caused reoccurring neck pain for years. The time has come to uproot the cause, even if it’s uncomfortable. I’m using the cobra position to create greater full body tension which gives me access to bigger ranges of motion. This is the kind of movement you never want to do because it takes so much presence and focus, but precisely because of that it’s guaranteed to take your mind off of whatever you were worrying about.

Double Mating Pigeon Pump pt2 🐦 💗
This time with more connection which requires more communication.
I’m doing 4 minutes each side everyday to train my hips, breath, and spine to handle my Kundalini yoga teacher training in India in a couple weeks. This is an incredible drill to practice if you are a regular meditator. It flushes tension that would otherwise arise as speed/stress/unsettledness. For me personally, settled physical stillness only occurs in me after pump out the excess tension I carry. Like a colon blow for your muscular/nervous system to help create the conditions for peace of mind. Thank you for this gem

The Lotus will bloom when it meets the right causes and conditions. My road to achieving full lotus continues.

Here’s the “double mating pigeon” drill taught to me by the one and only
This s**t is rich with subtlety, and I’ve only just begun. Breath, body, mind, connection, it ties together all four aspects of existence. My impossible aspiration is to achieve “hiplightenment” aka being able to ACTIVELY get into full lotus by means of full body control/connection. I’ve gone a long way to go and a lot of disparate parts to bring together. Exciting. The path is the goal.

If you can’t fly the run,
If you can’t run then walk.
If you can’t walk then crawl,
but by no means, keep moving.

I'm very happy to announce my first online offering to the world. "Mobility for Meditators" is a simple 30 minute follow along mobility series designed to help you sit more comfortably in meditation posture. I created this course for my meditation teachers' students across the world, but it is a suitable daily routine to help anyone regardless of age move and feel better. Enjoy!

Thanks to Katia Repina for filming this!

Last week, my incredible coach told me, “WHEN YOU FACE YOUR DARKNESS, YOU MAY GUIDE OTHERS NO MATTER WHAT FORM THE DARKNESS TAKES.” Today I leaped into darkness and faced a fear I’ve been avoiding for years, teaching an introduction to meditation class. I only spoke from my direct experience of learning to patiently work with mind, the ever present source of all our experiences. 🧘🏼‍♂️ I discovered meditation 8 years ago, on the quest to discover a way to escape the darkness of mental illness. What I discovered through consistent practice, is that there is no escape, but that’s actually the good news. What there is, is a time tested approach to working with our darkness/fear/distraction in order to recycle and reuse it. This process of transformation has been the basis for helping me, and millions of other practitioners cultivate compassion and presence (aka growing up.) 🧘🏼‍♂️Everyone in the class agreed that physical exercise is beneficial, so we talked about how meditation practice is a form of mental strength training that can be used as a tool to let go of unnecessary struggle through bringing us back to the present moment. It was a lovely, interactive, heart expanding experience that I look forward to refining by deepening my own practice. 💩+🔥=💎 Thank you and for hosting me. I also want to thank my fearless meditation-mentors and And finally a shout out to my darkness! Thank you for never going away until I face you with dignity.

My client herniated 2 discs in his lumbar spine 3 days ago while photographing a wedding. So should he just rest and take pain killers until it gets better? No way! The research says otherwise. So, under the direction of his physical therapist I regularly consult with, we decided to start training today using the "McGill Big Three" developed by one of the worlds leading spine specialists Dr. Stuart McGill 1. The curl up 2. The bird-dog 3. The side plank. All three of these drills work to stabilize the spine/build endurance in the "core" (which is comprised of ALOT of muscles working together to achieve and maintain a stable spine) We mixed these in with some diaphragmatic breathing drills and some simple split squats. He left 30 minutes later feeling significantly less pain, and was able to walk without limping. Helping people get out of pain through empowering them to learn how their body works, is so much more rewarding than getting somebody to look better naked. Training for vanity is good only to the extent that it gets you to move and take care of yourself, beyond that it is just a short sighted goal that will leave the majority of people disappointed and unmotivated in the long run. Personal practice. (10 min=1 min@10x speed) This is an example of 10 minutes of a level 3 class. This whole sequence is aimed at improving/allowing vajraasana aka full lotus and connecting deeply with the breath. My hero hardcore yogis would spend all years meditating in the position for days on end because it is the most stable effortless upright posture, which naturally relaxes the mind and breathing system which is a conducive circumstance that helps the conceptual mind to rest. My hypothesis is that if teach my nervous system to actively own and transition through each of these positions, full lotus will eventually become a true resting position. I have been practicing creating classes like these on my own while I build up the confidence to try and teach this deeply effective system to the public. The bottom line is that Kinstretch helps you get better at whatever it is you want/need your body to be able to do. 🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷

I am honored to be re-posted by the official page! Kinstretch has completely transformed my approach to movement, through making me joint-literate. After years of knee pain, and lower back aches, my joints work better than ever. Kinstrech forms the foundation of everything I teach here at the gym.

Late client = playtime. 8 minutes is all it took to wake up my physical and mental awareness and to clean off the residue of my dreams. Truly grateful for a body that moves well despite my nagging chronic neck pain. Improvisational movement helps me let go of the never helpful discouragement that tends to accompany chronic pain, as well as providing a workshop for all the movement amazingness i see on the internet everyday.
