Did you know……

It says right on the Q-Tip box, “Do not put in ears”.

The ear is a self cleaning system. Cerumen, aka, ear wax, has a purpose. It forms about midway in the ear canal and migrates outward, carrying dirt out with it. It also moisturizes your ear canal which prevents itching. Q-Tips dry the ear canal out, causing itching, and pack wax in. We can see this when we look in the ear. Wax impaction from Q-tips has a concave look to it. Other things we can see from cotton swab use are abrasions of the ear canal, perforated ear drums causing hearing loss , and broken off pieces of the cotton swab deep in the ear canal.

One last benefit of ear wax…..bugs don’t like it. It smells and tastes bad to bugs making it a less desirable place for bugs to take up residence and as an audiologist with over 34 years experience, the last thing I want to see when I look in a patient’s ears is something looking back at me. 😳

Your hearing aids don’t need the app to work—they’re already doing their job on their own. Most devices even have built-in buttons for adjusting volume or switching programs.

So if your app disappears, disconnects, or starts acting up, don’t panic. Your hearing aids will keep working just like they always have.

Monday morning, someone dumped a tiny kitten outside our office.

Not weaned. Still needing a bottle. Just… dumped we found out later.

A little later, one of our patients stopped in—and casually mentioned she had just been telling someone she was ready for her next cat.

And just like that…
This tiny life found its person.

She was already excited about the quiet purring… and the very loud little meows 😄

I don’t think moments like that are accidents.

Sometimes people come in for hearing help…
and leave with something completely unexpected. That’s just the kind of space we have.

Sorry for the unusual angle but when you’re wrestling with a VERY active friendly kitten who decided to become abandoned in the street by your office…you take the pictures you can get!

We took this picture in the hopes that one of our patients would want a new friend… And our next patient who walked in indeed wanted this little one while we were struggling to take a good picture. 

We love when things come together!
