Checking in with Clark’s Mountain

Hello, my name is Melanie Cowin. I have been a Registered Nurse for 13 years. My first RN job was actually at Clark’s Mountain in 2012. Since then I have worked in different skilled facilities in Missouri, New Mexico and Florida. I left skilled nursing for a few years and worked as a med surg nurse in the hospital setting. When I decided to return to skilled nursing, I chose to return where I started, with Americare. I am now the Staff Development Coordinator. In this role, I hire new employees and teach C.N.A class as well as maintaining staff education. I love providing hands-on education to Nurse assistants and it is very rewarding to help them reach their goals of becoming certified while providing excellent care to our residents. I am excited to be back in the place I call home.

Story: Not long after moving into our facility, Helen expressed interest in starting her own Bible Study to lead twice a month. Since that point she has faithfully led this Bible Study alongside her friend, Connie. These two women have grown this study each month and are making such a positive impact on our residents that live here.

Last week we had almost 20 residents that wanted to go fishing so we took a big group out and spent a wonderful afternoon/evening on the water. Our residents were excited to catch some fish and enjoy the final warm days of Fall. The residents and staff had so much fun, we are already scheduling our next fishing trip for the Spring!

Activity: Pet Therapy with Dollie and Maggie 🐾
Story: Dollie brings up her sweet pup, Maggie, every month for our residents to get to play with and pet! Maggie loves going room to room to visit as well as playing fetch with our residents that choose to come out to activity rooms. Maggie brings smiles to everyone she meets whether out and about or those choosing to remain in their rooms or resting in bed.

To kick off November, we started a giveaway on our facility page. When our page reaches 3k followers we are giving away a brand new firepit and everything you need to make s’mores! Fall weather is finally here and we cannot be more excited to give away this fire pit!

⚠️COME TRICK OR TREAT AT CMNC FROM 4-7p TONIGHT⚠️

We had so much fun handing out candy at the Elementary School this morning followed by our Halloween Party 🎃

Don’t forget to stop by for more candy and fun this evening from 4-7pm. The candy will be set up at the table at front door and the residents will be ready to hand it out to trick or treaters!

Story: Nikki recently came to the facility to host a Karaoke Hour with our residents as part of our Hometown Hospitality program. The residents had so much fun picking songs and singing together all afternoon 💃
