Coffee and red wine = obvious culprits.
But did you know soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, and even fruits like blueberries can stain your teeth over time? Acidic foods weaken enamel, making stains more likely to stick. Fortunately, rinsing with water after eating and keeping up with regular professional dental cleanings can help maintain a bright smile. What foods should you limit? Contact us at 605-224-7774 – we're here to help!

We as dentists, oral hygienists, dental assistants work hard to deliver the best we can.

Adjusting to the different groups of patients from young to old.

For us it's just another day in the clinic, but for other people it can be a day where they take a first step of courage.

That little step to go for a check up knowing it might be a mess because they avoided it for 20+ years sometimes.

We listen, we ask questions what they want.

We are guiding them, encouraging them and educating them that yes,

A realistic healthy relationship with your own teeth does exist.

We give them hope. It impacts their performance in other area's of life as well.

Their confidence rises. They start to smile again.

I was one of those patients.

Many of those moments goes unnoticed or is unwritten but they do happen quite a lot.

One way to thank your dentist, oral hygienist and dental team is to give a positive review.

Doesn't cost anything to write one.

But trust me, after a long day of calming people fear's, anxiety and pain,

That review makes our day.

It gives us the confirmation of why we chose this profession in the first place.

We are here for you, even if you don't like us. ❤️🦷

A new study published in the Journal of Periodontology has revealed a powerful link between oral and metabolic health in pregnancy. Researchers found that women with moderate to severe periodontitis were up to three times more likely to develop gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).

The study followed 446 pregnant women in China and discovered a clear dose–response pattern — as gum disease worsened, so did the risk of GDM. Among women over 30, severe periodontitis raised the risk almost fivefold, suggesting that age amplifies this inflammatory impact.

Scientists identified systemic inflammation as the biological bridge. Elevated white blood cell counts and immune markers explained up to 19% of the connection, showing that gum inflammation doesn’t stay in the mouth — it affects the whole body, including glucose metabolism.

Nuts, such as almonds, cashews, and Brazil nuts, are packed with essential minerals that help keep your teeth strong and gums healthy. Almonds, in particular, are low in sugar, high in calcium, and help stimulate saliva production, keeping bacteria away. Nuts are also a tooth-friendly swap for chips or crackers, which often leave behind starchy residue. More dental health tips? Contact us at 605-224-7774.
