Piggott Health System Expands Peer Recovery Program with Second Specialist and Jail-Based Services
December 9, 2025
Piggott, Arkansas — Piggott Health System continues to expand its Peer Recovery Program with the hiring of a second Peer Recovery Specialist and the launch of recovery-focused services at the Clay County Detention Center, strengthening the county’s response to substance use disorders.
Chris Lemmons has joined Piggott Health System as the program’s second Peer Recovery Specialist. Lemmons will work alongside Hollie Trammel to provide peer-led recovery support, education, and resources throughout Clay County, including outreach to individuals involved in the justice system.
In collaboration with Clay County Sheriff Ronnie Cole and other community leaders, the Peer Recovery Program has been discussed and planned over the past 2 years. When Trammel was hired in September, she began working directly with individuals at the Clay County Detention Center. The initiative focuses on connecting inmates with recovery resources, education, and support during incarceration and helping reduce barriers to treatment upon release.
“Addressing substance use disorder requires meeting people where they are,” said James Magee, Executive Director of Piggott Health System. “By expanding our Peer Recovery Program and working closely with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, we’re creating opportunities for individuals to access support at critical moments and helping build safer, healthier outcomes for our community.”
Sheriff Ronnie Cole emphasized the importance of partnerships that address addiction beyond incarceration. “Substance use plays a significant role in repeat offenses,” Cole said. “Working with Piggott Health System allows us to offer people hope, resources, and a path forward that can make a real difference when they return to the community.”
The Peer Recovery Program was established using opioid settlement funds awarded through the Arkansas Opioid Recovery Partnership. Since its launch, the program has expanded services within the hospital, throughout the community, and now into the detention center. Trammel recently launched an all-recovery support group at the Piggott Community Center, open to anyone seeking support for substance use recovery.
With two Peer Recovery Specialists now in place and new collaborations underway, Piggott Health System continues to strengthen local resources aimed at prevention, education, treatment, and long-term recovery.
