This Women’s History Month, we honor extraordinary women by sharing their stories and celebrating the lasting impact they made on their communities and the world.
Fannie Lou Hamer was a civil rights activist and voting rights leader who became a powerful voice for Black Americans in the 1960s. After being denied the right to vote in Mississippi, she helped found the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party and challenged segregation at the 1964 Democratic National Convention. She is remembered for her courage, faith, and the enduring declaration, “I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired.”
