Dr. Henry Miguel Eugenio, age 85, of Somerset, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Henry was born on August 11, 1938 in Sta. Ignacia Philippines to Francisco Eugenio and Eufrocina Miguel.
Dr. Henry Eugenio, a Filipino born immigrant, enjoyed a wonderful life devoted to his work and his family. He began his life in America as a member of the United States Navy, proudly serving our country and giving his family the opportunity to achieve the American dream. Practicing as an emergency medicine physician throughout the state of Kentucky for more than 30 years, he is remembered by his colleagues as one of the hardest working men they had ever met. When he wasn’t providing for his patients, he relished in spending time with his enormous family, golfing with his buddies, singing karaoke, dancing with his grandchildren, and traveling the world with his loving wife, Angie. He was an avid member of the Association of Philippine Physicians in America, during which he spear headed many medical mission trips to the Philippines, and served as President from 2004-2005. We will always remember his generosity, sense of humor, and his passion and love for his family whom he was the most proud.
He met and married the love of his life, Angelita Cube on August 14, 1959 in Sta. Ignacia and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage.
Survivors include two daughters, Jacqueline Eugenio (Leonardo) of Somerset and Giovannie Anciro (Dennis) of Somerset; two sons, Jonathan Eugenio (Ria) of Lexington and Henry Eugenio, Jr (Jessica) of Somerset; nine grandchildren, Angelica Owens (Nicholas), Fernando Domingo (Brandon), Audree Meyer (Michael), Ashlee Anciro, Alyssa Anciro, Lily Eugenio, Jack Henry Eugenio, Lauren Eugenio and Rhys Miguel Eugenio; one great granddaughter, Sofia Demi Meyer, one step sister, Ofelia Cube Tadeo; and many other extended family members including Jessamine de Guzman (Jay), Jeffrey (Amanda), Isabella, Romeo, Camila, Eureka Mamauag (Gilbert), Miguel, Erica, all of our extended families in California and the Philippines.
Dr. Eugenio was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nelly Caliboso.
A Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at St. Mildred’s Catholic Church, 203 South Central Avenue, Somerset, KY 42501, with Father Carlos Andres Martinez officiating.
