February is heart month — and rosehips feel like the perfect plant ally.
These bright red fruits of the rose are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C and have long been loved for their gentle support of the heart, immunity, skin, and digestion. They’re exactly the kind of strength we need this time of year.
Rosehips aren’t flashy, and they’re definitely not fragile. They’re steady, resilient, and deeply nourishing.
Because rosehips are dense, they do best with a little patience. Instead of a quick steep, try a longer simmer or an overnight infusion to draw out their goodness. Rosehips pair beautifully with elderberries, hibiscus, and hawthorn berry (to name a few).
I grew up with a remedy that combined rosehips, apple cider vinegar, honey, and hot water — it worked every time to chase the crud away and it was delicious.
What’s your favorite way to incorporate rosehips into your winter routine?
