UPDATE:
RESCUE COMES IN ALL SHAPES AND SIZES
On a chilly Tuesday night, Squad 86 along with Surry County EMS, Emergency Management and the Surry County Sheriffโs Office were dispatched to a rescue involving a horse stuck in the ice of a frozen pond
The rescue squad responded to the area and located the horse trapped, having fell through the ice into the frigid waters below.
Rescuers were able to position a rescue truck and set a winch in place while a rope system and straps were safely placed along the animal.
After a few minutes and a couple cold fingers, rescuers successfully rescued the horse from the icy waters and back onto solid ground where he was further evaluated by medical and animal professionals.
This successful operation proves that these heartbeats respond for you, even if youโre walking on 4 instead of 2!
A HUGE THANK YOU to all our brave volunteers for enduring the elements and risking themselves without a second thought to ensure everybody makes it back home!
