Recently I got to ride Shooter, my 2 year old, for the first time at the trainer's! (Shoutout to Argentero Performance Horses) π
It got me thinking about how NOW is the time these young horses need to be getting maintenance care done. They've been working for a few months, having a rider on their back for the first time in their lives, using their body in new ways, etc.
This all leads to tightness, soreness, and can eventually spiral into bigger issues none of us want to deal with. Not to mention setbacks in the training schedule when things do go wrong. Shooter had craniosacral work done a few weeks ago and I am going to be giving him an adjustment and massage next.
We all want longevity out of our horses, and the best time to start maintaining their health and physical fitness is from a young age.
