Last weekend I attended a ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ at Rest Yourself River Ranch in Mineral Wells.
The biggest lesson I walked away with had very little to do with sleep.
The retreat was designed around something much more important: true rest.
For an entire weekend there were no responsibilities.
No other "beings" to care for.
No figuring out what to do next.
No schedule to keep (there was a loose itinerary we could follow).
All we had to do was exist.
At first, my brain kept trying to fill the space.
โWhat should I be doing right now?โ
โWhat could I be getting done?โ
But about halfway through the weekend, during the rain, something shifted.
My nervous system finally slowed down.
I realized how conditioned many of us are to constantly fill our time with productivity, responsibilities, or even entertainment.
We rarely allow ourselves true rest.
And thatโs when the biggest lesson hit me:
Rest is not a luxury.
Itโs not even just โself-care.โ
Itโs a necessity for a healthy nervous system.
When we take time to truly rest, we create space for our bodies and minds to reset. We stop running on fumes and start operating from a place of clarity, energy, and resilience.
As someone who works with the nervous system every day, this was a powerful reminder for me too.
Sometimes the most productive thing we can doโฆ
is slow down.
Thank you to Strong On Health for putting together this beautiful retreat. It was filled with other like-minded people and wellness practitioners, and supported with Standard Process supplementation.
