Appalachian Herb Growers Consortium AHGC is dedicated to applying our experience in growing Chinese medicinal herbs to fostering new growth for local farms and the community at large.

Appalachian Herb Growers Consortium is dedicated to applying our experience to fostering new growth for local farms and the community at large. We hope to help build a more sustainable, economically and environmentally-sound foundation for the future by supporting effective cultivation and marketing of high-value plants. That’s good news for Floyd County, where eighty-six percent of farmers are unable to make a living wage through farming alone. We currently have 50+ area farms participating in the AHGC, with all of them planted in an array of Chinese Medicinal Herbs. Farmers have the support of a source for reliable seed and plants, on-site consultations, help with harvests and post-harvest handling, and virtually guaranteed sales through an established national herb-buying consortium. With this, our participating farmers can focus on what they do best: farming.
