Northbound I-5, south of Grapevine Road is closed due to a commercial vehicle fire. Kern County Fire Department and emergency personnel are on scene. Please use caution through the area as traffic is backed up.

If you're out hiking, be sure to look up to check the trees. Lions love resting in the trees. Right now they are hunting and there are a lot of rabbits out and about. Keep your pets on a leash, and keep them inside when they are not with you.

It has been verified that the Y is now open in both directions. Drive carefully. This storm is not over and it is possible the road could be closed again over the next week.

ATTENTION: The road to the Y, Mil Potrero Highway, and Hudson Ranch Road are COUNTY roads and subject to fines if you ignore or try to get around the road closures. Not only will you be subjected to fines, but you are endangering your insurance coverage, and you will not be covered for whatever befalls you. The road closures are ordered by CHP, so state laws apply.

Roads Update Per PMCPOA:

Up to a dozen vehicles are stranded between PMC and the Y.

PLEASE AVOID THE ROAD!

CHP is patrolling with a wrecker to get vehicles off the road, but it is an extremely hazardous condition currently with stranded vehicles.
The CHP has requested PMCPOAs plow Mil Potrero and that plowing has begun allowing vehicles with 4x4 and suitable tires to follow them in, but this will not necessarily be an ongoing operation. PLEASE AVOID THE ROAD.

Plowing inside PMC has begun on the major roads and some side streets. The online PMC POA plow map is not yet updated.
