When wash n gos... go wrong:
Infrequent salon appointments
Blow-drying the hair with leave-in conditioner not formulated for heat-activation.
Expecting the time it took to do your hair when it was cropped to be nearly the same duration as with longer hair.
Air drying because it didn't take that long when the hair was short.
Infrequent cleansing, conditioning, and styling because you eventually realized that longer hair needs more time than what you were used to as a cropped natural.
The client has worn her hair short for nearly 5 years and decided to grow it out. Then life was life-ing which caused her every 8-week routine salon appointments to be thrown off schedule for the last 8 months. Although she wanted to grow it out, she wasn't used to the nuances of having longer hair. The longer the hair, the older the strands are. Old strands need TLC, while shorter hair can withstand just about anything because it's all "new" or "young" hair from being cut short frequently.
A true foundational regimen will work whether you wear wash n gos, blow outs, pressed, or relaxed.... taking a break from wash n gos doesn't mean the regimen should also change completely. It's okay to switch it up, when your regimen is universal for just about any style choice with the guidance of a Licensed Cosmetologist and Certified Trichologist who understands all hair types and their needs from the inside out.
