We had a great time at the Middlesex County Blue Cares Community Resource Fair in Perth Amboy last week! 💜

It was inspiring to see so many organizations and community members come together to support recovery, share resources, and connect people to care. From providing Narcan to health and housing services, the event was a reminder of how much impact we can make when we all show up for one another. 💜

This past weekend, the TRS team spent the morning at the Mayor’s Annual Health Fair in Woodbridge! 🎃🍂 It was such a great time connecting with the community, talking about recovery, and spreading the word about the support we offer through TRS.

Between the pumpkin painting, local vendors, and wellness activities, it was a perfect reminder that recovery and health go hand in hand — and that community plays a big part in both. 💜

🌟 On September 12, TRS was proud to attend the 9th Annual Peer Recovery Support Summit, Advancing Recovery: Peer-Led, People-Centered.

This year’s theme highlighted the power of peer leadership and person-centered care — values that are at the heart of what we do at TRS.

A special moment for our team: our very own peer, Chris Malalis, who took the stage with her presentation, “Theirs Is Theirs, Mine Is Mine: Trusting the Process in Peer Work.” 💜
Chris spoke on the importance of boundaries, self-awareness, and trust in the peer role — reminding us that effective peer support means walking alongside someone, not directing their journey. Her message captured the heart of recovery: respect, empathy, and mutual growth. We are so beyond proud of Chris for representing TRS and shining a light on the power of lived experience in recovery!

📍 June 12–13 — NJPN Annual Conference (Atlantic City)
Celebrating 25 years of prevention, treatment, and recovery innovation with 1,200+ professionals statewide.

📍 June 24 — Atlantic County Recovery Court
We shared TRS services and connected with participants and providers working to support long-term recovery.

📍 August 16 — Woodbridge Overdose Awareness Day
A moving day of remembrance and action with a flag raising and walk, breaking stigma and honoring lives lost.

📍 August 26 — Monmouth County Recovery Court
We provided resources, answered questions, and connected with participants about recovery pathways and TRS support.

Governor Phil Murphy has officially proclaimed August 31, 2025, as Overdose Awareness Day in New Jersey.

Drug overdoses remain the leading cause of accidental death in our state, with more than seven lives lost each day—most involving fentanyl and other dangerous substances. Behind these numbers are families, friends, and communities forever changed.

While August 31st has passed, the need for awareness, compassion, and action continues every single day. Together, we can honor those lost, support their loved ones, and work to prevent future tragedies.
