On February 24th, Correctional Officer Dustin Pedigo was fatally stabbed by an inmate at the Morgan County Correctional Complex in Wartburg, Tennessee. The inmate was serving a 27-year prison sentence for attempted murder at the time of the incident.

35-year old Dustin Pedigo had proudly served the Tennessee Department of Correction for 10 months. Dustin was a graduate of Heritage High School and was currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology at East Tennessee State University. He was deeply passionate about his work in corrections, with a strong commitment to reducing recidivism and providing trauma-informed support to those in his care. He was bright, warm, and caring, with a goofy spirit that brought joy to those around him. Dustin was a devoted pet parent to his beloved cats and dogs and loved his family deeply. He leaves behind a loving wife, both parents and two siblings.
